Cinnamon Swirl Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
I feel bad for low-rating this recipe, because I did change it...I doubled the filling as others suggested, and used 1tsp of bread machine yeast as that was the conversion for instant yeast vs. active dry yeast. I'm not sure where I went wrong, but my dough didn't rise and I basically ended up with 2 cinnamon roll logs. They didn't taste terrible, but it would've been nice if they had some more air in them.

I really enjoyed these...rich flavor with the texture of box brownie mix brownies.

Portobello Mushroom Stroganoff

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
The five stars are for the recipe as edited by the top reviewer. We eat this on a regular basis and it's delicious! I've tried to sub greek yogurt for the sour cream, and it tastes ok, but makes the texture weird and lumpy. Stick with reduced fat sour cream.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
This is fantastic, even if you're not a huge fan of cheesecake. It's a delicate dessert with great flavor. Don't try to cut calories and just sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on without the butter, though. You end up with a gritty mess.

Very rich, if you couldn't tell by looking at the ingredients, but with all that butter and yolk, you know the flavor is great.

Simply White Bread II

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
Boyfriend loved it; I thought it was just ok. 5 stars because it really is a simple white bread. Found after I put all my ingredients in and started the machine that my bread machine yeast has a conversion chart on it...my advice would be to check that out before adding your bread machine yeast. Freaked out, but added more yeast and all was well.

It really is quick and easy. Always have cream cheese on hand, and not always much time, so this is a valuable recipe to me.

Quinoa Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
So good. Didn't want it to be too spicy, so cut out the jalapeno and used chili powder to taste. I cook the quinoa in vegetable broth for more flavor and I find that I need to continuously add liquid to the cooking quinoa to keep it from burning. I have made this many times and it is definitely my favorite chili recipe.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
I've never had a Cinnabon, so I can't compare, but these cinnamon rolls were the best I ever had! I was scared because I've never made any recipe with yeast that wasn't disgusting, but these came out perfect making the dough in my new bread machine. The only issue I had was telling the temperature of the milk without a thermometer. I tested it against my wrist, figuring that if I'm 98.6 degrees, 110 would feel a bit warmer. I guess I wasn't far off! I was afraid to use the full amount of cinnamon, so I decreased it a little, but the full amount would have been fine. I mixed the melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon all together before spreading on the dough. It was difficult to spread, but I didn't have the problem of the filling running out during baking. This definitely is neither a fast nor easy recipe, but the result is totally worth it.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
I'll blame my cheap $5 waffle iron for taking 30 minutes per waffle, but even so, the batter was pretty bland. Maybe a little more salt?

Baked Tofu Bites

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
This recipe is only about 3-4 stars as is...it is FAR TOO SALTY! I've made it twice now, and the second time I used less soy sauce and some water to cut down on the salt and it was much better. Overall, it is easy and tasty if you can cut down on the salt. Good served with rice or noodles.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
Pretty good...I used some grated carrot and 2 vegetable bouillon cubes instead of chicken granules (probably could have used more) and vegetarian bacon instead of ham. It seemed to be missing something, so I added garlic powder and a slice of Velveeta. Overall, pretty good.

Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
I do not like yellow squash, but was gifted some from a friend's garden. This was fantastic! I added more of the Ritz/cheese mixture to the filling because it seemed very liquidy and it was perfect. Making it again tonight with zucchini. UPDATE: Not as good with zucchini...too watery.

Molly's Mouthwatering Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
So good! I don't have a food processor, so I grated the cucumber with the fine side of my grater. I also thought I had garlic, but I did not, so I used garlic powder. Omitted the mayo as per previous reviews and added some dried dill. Still came out restaurant worthy.

This recipe was so easy and came out as good as my mom's complicated hot water bath, doing crazy things with eggs recipe. I toasted my bread beforehand, added a pinch of nutmeg, and everyone raved.

Heavenly Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
I was terrified of making an angel food cake from scratch, but following the directions exactly, I had no trouble and the cake was sooo delicious. I had bought one from the store in case it didn't work out, and I couldn't even eat it after tasting this recipe because it's so much better!
