About this Cook
I have been retired for 4 years, love to cook and bake. My husband of 46 years and I like to travel a bit, mostly cruising. He loves to garden and I love to buy stuff to plant and point to where it should go - a very amenable arrangement.
My favorite things to cook
Family dinners, particulary pot roast, baby back ribs,anything Italian. I love to make desserts and my family love to enjoy them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has a long line of German/Swiss cooks so if it hasn't got whipping cream or butter in it it isn't worth eating!
My cooking triumphs
I do pie well, and long slow stews and pot roasts. Also love a good pork roast with lots of gravy and onions - always a hit. Love to do soups too.
My cooking tragedies
Blueberry pie - I cannot make a good cooked blueberry pie. The one time I did make one that looked like it might turn out well I dropped it on the floor taking it out of the oven. No more, now I make unbaked blueberry pie in a baked crust.

Raspberry Chiffon Pie II
Our family really enjoyed this pie. Because we don't care for graham cracker crust I made a pate sucre that worked very well. This is a generous filling so I put the leftover in small ramekins and just had them as a snack.

Authentic French Meringues
Great recipe. I added a touch of clear vanilla and 1/4 tsp. of cream of tartar. Meringues were perfect, light, crispy but not hard. I'm going to try using this recipe for individual pavlovas with a little raspberry flavouring and lots of fresh fruit.

Ground Chicken Taco Burgers
We really liked this recipe. I put the jalapenos directly into the chicken mixture and I did add a bit of panko crumbs to firm it up a little. I cooked them on the stove in a little olive oil because we don't grill and they were beautiful.
