I thought the cake was moist though a bit dense I was worried that if I used oil as recommended by other readers the cake would not hold up well when I stacked layers...I am going to try 2 variations: 1st- shortening/whipped egg whites and 2nd - 1/2 shortening/1/2 oil and see how they hold up
