Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

NOT enough pineapple and sugar didn't completely dissolve! I tried putting it all in my 9" cake pan and baking it. NOT good! The way I found to fix the recipe is first to divide the butter and sugar between two 9" pans. Second, open a second can of sliced pineapple (one can is not enough for 2 pans). You will end up with a few extra slices of pineapple which can be eaten or torn to fill in the holes. Make the cake mix according to directions. You can substitute the drained pineapple juice for the water the cake mix needs.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

I tried it just at written hence the 4 stars. It is good but I don't like the soggy onion rings in it. I reduced the onion to half of an onion and chopped it up. I also added 1/2 tsp dry mustard powder (which this recipe definitely needs!)

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Two problems with this recipe: Water needs to be reduced to 3 cups. Using a ratio of 1-1/2 water to 1 rice will help keep the rice grains separate. Secondly, rinse the excess starch off of the rice. Put the rice in your pot, fill with cold water and stir. Drain the rice. Repeat at least once. The excess starch acts like glue when cooked making the rice clump up more.

Amish White Bread

Made as recipe stated, the bread is a bit sweet for my taste (why it got 4 out of 5 stars). I then tried halving the sugar like another reviewer suggested and now I have a white bread that BEATS any I have tasted in the supermarket! Tastes great and wonderful texture too! Also if you're out of bread flour, just use all-purpose flour. You will still get a great loaf of bread! I used my KitchenAid mixer to kneed the dough. About 5min of kneeding after the dough comes together then into well oiled bowl for the 1st rise.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Honey Corn Bread

The texture was not like a quick bread at all but very cake like. I think corn bread should have a corn taste to it. I used only 1 tsp vanilla extract and that mostly overwhelmed the corn taste. All in all, this recipe makes a cake with corn thrown in. I will look for a different recipe.
