Fluffy, tasty, old-fashioned pancakes. I added a dash of vanilla and fresh strawberries. Yum!

Grandma's Brown Sugar Drop Cookies

Taste good, but really soft. Too much shortening, in my opinion. Would like to try again with butter, almond extract, and vanilla.

Delicious and easy to make! I've used it to make pizza and calzones -- both were wonderful.

Applesauce Doughnuts

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2009
Very tasty. I used allspice instead of clove, since that's what I had on hand. By the way, I agree with the poster who said it's unfair to dramatically change the recipe and then give a poor/mediocre rating. The raw apple that poster added would completely change the texture of this recipe and would also change cooking time.

Delicious! I used four garlic cloves, soy milk, crushed red pepper and added some nutritional yeast. Served over whole wheat pasta. Yummy!

Banana-Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
Agree with other posters who said it's a little dry. Still a good recipe, though. I will probably substitute plain yogurt for some of the oil next time, to make it healthier—I think that will also help increase the moistness.

Okra Gumbo

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
A delicious vegetarian gumbo recipe! Per previous comments, I did not use file powder, just tomato paste and roux—in my humble opinion, it's not gumbo without the roux. Even without file powder, the roux, tomato paste, and okra created a nice, thick texture; I actually added about 3 cups of water so it wasn't TOO thick. I suggest keeping a large glass of water handy and adding it as you think it's necessary. I also added thyme and celery seed, and both added a nice flavor to the dish. Very, very good—I will definitely make this again.

Okra Patties

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
Good Lord, these are tasty! I read the raves and thought, "It's just an okra patty... How good could it really be?!" The answer is: Better than I ever could have anticipated. The only changes I made were to add garlic powder and fresh banana peppers. The flavor and texture were both fantastic—I will absolutely make these again.

Jayme's Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
I was searching for recipes that use raw apple cider vinegar—it's such a healthy food to add to your diet—and came across this. It probably would have been great following the recipe exactly, but I made the following changes: - To make it healthier, I used 1/4 cup mayo and 1/4 cup plain yogurt. - I used both red and white cabbage, as I like the spiciness and color of the red. - I added 1 green onion, 1 carrot, and 2 banana peppers for color and flavor. It was very good; I'd definitely make it again. By the way, I disagree with some of the previous posters about cutting back the amount of vinegar—I didn't find the amount overwhelming at all, and I think it would likely have been bland with less.

Whole Wheat and Honey Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
Very tasty. I rolled the crust out nice and thin, and baked it for seven minutes before adding any toppings. Also, I divided the dough into halves to make two pizzas, froze the second half, and used it a week later -- still very tasty! Finally, I added Italian spices to the dough (Oregano, Basil, etc.)... yum!

Very tasty, but very rich! I'll use less parmesan cheese next time. Good recipe.
