About this Cook
Some people plant the food. Other people prepare it. I'm the latter!
My favorite things to cook
Pancakes, waffles, cookies, cakes, all kinds of baking. Bread machine recipes, muffins, homemade tortillas. Homemade ice cream. Soups, potato salad, healthy vegetarian meals, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have gotten away from my family's traditional Italian cooking, mainly because of becoming a vegetarian and also loving to explore the wealth of wonderful recipes on the internet. My favorite family recipes would have to be lasagne, cannoli, my Mom's bread pudding.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I successfully made homemade bread and the dough actually rose! Making my own wedding cake. People telling me I am a good cook and baker.
My cooking tragedies
When the frosting on two tiers of a wedding cake I made started to slide down cuz it was hot (I fixed it - whew!). My first cake I learned how to make from cooking class in school - I made it at home - a friend of our family was the first to taste it - he got an awful expression on his face - I had left out the sugar!

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting
Wonderful recipe! I will make this often! I prepared the cream cheese mixtire in a bowl and set it aside. Then I whipped the cream with an electric mixer until almost done, added the cream cheese mixture, and then finished whipping (stop quickly before it turns to butter!). It made enough to cover a 12x18" sheet cake. It's creamy and delicious, and holds up like it says. Plenty sweet, I would not want more sugar.

Apple Hermits
These made great bars. No icing necessary. Baked them in a 10x15 inch pan at 350 for 25 mins. Spread the batter in the pan with a metal spatula. Used half whole wheat pastry flour, raw sugar instead of brown, Earth Balance margarine, and only 1/4 tsp cloves and 1/8 tsp nutmeg so not too spicy. Enjoyed the apples, walnuts and raisins. Tasted great. Good, chewy cookie. Pretty healthy, too, for a cookie! Thank you for recipe.

Johnny's Spice Rub
Not sure if I rated this before, but I have to say that I have been using this "grub rub" recipe for years now, and it is my favorite dry rub! Great for steak, chicken, everything! Thank you, Johnny.
