Grandma Johnson's Scones

I've never made scones before because I've tried them in coffee shops & NEVER enjoyed them. I thought they were suppose to be hard & dry...until I made these. I made them for my son's tea party at school and, OMG, couldn't stop eating them! They were not at all hard or dry. I left out the raisins and drizzled a glaze on the top. PERFECT!

This is good but not great. It's easy to make & different but I don't think I'd make it again. My husband suggested adding a streusel topping. That would probably be good.

Yummy but oh so rich! This was the 1st time I attempted to do poached eggs or hollandaise. I started early, had everything ready and took my time. Everything came out perfect! I'm no longer scared. The whole family loved it.

Cake Doughnuts

Let me start by saying these doughnuts do taste great. I passed out the doughnut holes to the neighbor kids only to find out that all the parents ate them them "shared" some w/the kids. I had to take more over and everyone talked about them for the rest of the day. I did have trouble w/the dough. I didn't read the other reviews 1st. It was so sticky that I couldn't even work with it. I added much more flour until it was manageable. I think that it may have turned out better if the dough was left in overnight. I would suggest that if you're just making doughnuts for the kids to just use the pillsbury buttermilk biscuits and fry them. It's much easier and the kids LOVE them. They will certainly choose them over the homemade ones here. I will make these for the adults though.
