Chinese Braised Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
This was great - so tender and a good, simple flavor. I used boneless pork spareribs - they were super fatty so I took off as much fat as I could and boiling them initially as suggested was also very helpful. I followed the instructions except didn't add any salt or pepper. I let the pork boil for about 2 hours but when I tried it after 1 hour, I could tell it was already very tender.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

good! don't be afraid to make this if you don't have all of the ingredients, it still comes out tasty. I used ground turkey and I did not have water chestnuts or green onions, still was good!

Spicy Orange Chicken

I really liked this - just the kind of preparation and food that my family likes. I omitted all of the spicy ingredients since I was feeding a 2 and 4 year old - still very tasty!

Best Spanish Rice

Wow, this was so simple but came out perfect! I omitted the onions at the first step since the salsa has onions in it anyway. So yummy.

Focaccia Bread

I have made this at least a dozen times. We love it, everyone always asks me to make it. I always omit the cheese at the end.

Spicy Oil and Vinegar Bread Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I brought this to a dinner party last night and served it with homemade french bread. It was delicious and everyone loved it. I made it the night before and refrigerated it. Noticed that it got really thick from refrigeration, but I added a dash more of oil and let it get to room temperature and that solved the problem

Mushroom Chicken Piccata

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
It's very tasty, subtle. I didn't do the flour part and just started by browning the chicken. I used chicken thighs. I also used leftover champagne from New Years for the white wine. I am going to serve it with pilaf and spinach.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2014
I am rating this 3 stars because it was just ok. The pork was very dry. I used very thick pork chops and only had it in the crockpot for about 4.5 hours on low. Although it was tender it had no moisture at all. The flavor was alright but I've had better.

Best Ever Brisket

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
this was great. I also added very little salt as some other reviewers suggested and I used low sodium chicken stock rather than beef stock because that's what I had on hand.

Eggplant Croquettes

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
This was really good! I baked it in the oven at 350* for 12 minutes on each side. I shaped it in to patties and served as sandwiches. I see now that I forgot to add the pepper, but it's probably better that way anyway. I'll make it again.

Really good. Made it with brussels sprouts, carrots and mushrooms and stir fried with boiled ramen noodles like others suggested. I halved the soy sauce and halved the sugar.

Chinese Steamed Buns

Yes this tasted good and it came out nicely - but it took 4.5 hours to make from start to finish - which was just more time than worth it!

Chinese Pork Tenderloin

It was really good. I only had time to marinate it for 30 minutes but the flavors were still very nice. I substituted orange juice for the sherry and halved the sesame oil.

the only thing I liked about this is the bread - the filling is so bland and not worth all the effort.

California Roll Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
This really tastes like California rolls! I left out the lettuce and only used 1 avocado. I did not use wasabi powder because I wanted my kids to eat it too. As suggested by others, I shredded dried seaweed (available at Asian market) and it really helped tie everything together
