Cooking and Baking has been a part of my life since I can remember. I discovered that I had a knack for it in my early twenties and started to experiment and create my own recipes. I have recently joined the world of vegetarian/vegan-ism and so am experimenting with many recipes and new cookbooks. I am enjoying trying new recipes and look forward to sharing them.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking cookies, cakes and breads. For dinner, I like to make foods from different cultures - I am currently trying to adapt some of my old recipes to the vegetarian world so that I can continue to enjoy some old Italian favs... I'm Italian/Hungarian so I my cooking encompassed what I learned as a child from my Mom so it's important to me to find a way to still use these recipes without meat - any ideas? I'd be glad to hear them!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian, Hungarian, Indian, Caribbean, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, African... any culture but the American way of eating... BORING!
My cooking triumphs
Luckily now a days I am generally successful at cooking and baking. Occasionally I mix up a recipe and the outcome is tragic but this doesn't happen very often (thankfully! :)
My cooking tragedies
The worst tragedy I can think of is when I was babysitting my sister's 3 children when I was in my early twenties. I had made a fairly spicy soup that I tried to serve to them thinking that they just might like it... well, to make a long story short... I ended up ordering pizza! LOL
(Not to mention that my brother helped me make the soup and when we were cutting the jalepenos, we paused and started chatting, oddly we both scratched our eyes at the same time (why? I will never know!) and instantly our eyes started burning from the hot peppers! Wow, never again! ouch!!) LOL
