Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2014
A huge key in making cucumber salad, is that you slice the cukes uniform with a mandolin and that you sprinkle salt on them liberally to force the water out of them. After letting them sit so the water comes out, you squeeze them dry with your hands. This step is missed in so many cucumber salad recipes. It makes a nice salad with vinaigrette or sour cream. BUT YOU HAVE TO SQUEEZE THE WATER OUT OF THEM.

Pumpkin Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
During the prep process, I could not get the crumble to crumble so I added a little flour and then sugar. Still would not crumble. So I put it in the freezer for 5-6 minutes and then it crumbled. So in saying that, definitely use really cold butter for this part. The flavour is wonderful. You better have a glass of cold milk to drink with it because it was very very rich. I took one star off because of the crumble complication.

Sauerkraut-Stuffed Slow-Cooked Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
Wonderful recipe but definately needs some help. I diced up a large onion and also shredded a med. carrot. Added about 20 whole peppercorns, 1/4 tsp. of fennel seeds and a heaping tablespoon of brown sugar. I placed these ingredients on the bottome of slow cooker. Instead of a roast, I browned portioned pork ribs in a very high temp. oven for 20 minutes. Then i placed them over the onion/carrot mixture and then i poured the sauerkraut over that with extra water. This is so delish......and easy and its worth it to put the extra effort into it.

Slow Cooker German-Style Pork Roast with Sauerkraut and Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
i agree with one review that you must add peppercorns, caraway seed and bay leaf to give it that bavarian flare. browning the meat is very important for added flavour and moistness. this is an easy recipe and is especially good on those cold winter nights. a keeper for my family who, i might add are german on both sides.

German Potato Cheese Soup

There is nothing German about this soup except that maybe it was made by someone that is of german descendant. If you must, call it American/European Cheezy Potato Soup
