This will be my standard cake recipe! So easy and way better than boxed cake. However, I did follow the suggestions above - 1 1/2 cups milk and sunflower oil instead of shortening. Also, I used a flour combination that promised to create a tender cake and it worked: Substitute all the flour for this ratio, 2 parts flour to one part corn starch. An allrecipes user suggested this on another cake recipe and it worked beautifully. [I think for this particular recipe I used 1 1/2 cups flour and 3/4 cup corn starch, which is a little less than called for but it was great.]
