Slow Cooker Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2012
I was excited when I saw this on the weekly email. Slow Cooker Enchiladas, what a great idea. I was dissapointed as soon as I saw the ingredient list. with plastic/fake ingredients like "Taco Seasoning Mix", "Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup", and "Shredded Cheese Blend."

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2012
#1: This recipe uses white flour which is just plain wrong. You can get whole wheat pastry flower, so why don't you use that? #2 This recipe uses way too much sugar. The extra cup of white sugar is not needed. This recipe needs a lot of work and is no where near the rating given. I would give it zero stars becase it is basically a total failure. I did try to fix the recipe, by cutting the white sugar, adding an extra egg and 1/4 cup of butter milk. That was almost enough, but still less than perfect.

Favorite Corn Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
This recipe is ok. It is simple to make, but the ingredients are all wrong. Any recipe that uses "all purpose flour" makes me think the author doesn't know much about baking. An Shortening? Hello! That is hydrogenated vegetable oil, also known as trans-fat and isnt' exactly good for you. Technically, this recipe only deserves one star, and there is no way it should qualify as top 20 anything. But the proportions are right, and it did help me out when I wanted to make corn bread. With a little attention to wholesome ingredients and nutrition, you could be a great cook Carol! Keep trying, I'm sure you'll get there... To fix this recipe use: Whole Wheat Pastry Flour, Dark Brown Sugar, Butter Milk, and Butter.

Slow Cooker Moroccan Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
Great recipe, but I can't buy the canned tomattoes. Learn to peal tomatoes, it isn't that hard. Also, you have to brown the chicken, garlic and onions. Prep time is way off. It takes like an hour to get everything ready to cook (incuding browning the chicken and vegetables). Also, this recipe makes a lot, so adjust, or invite friends.

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
5 Stars, but, use 1 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp baking soda. I don't think anyone needs to be told that you can add stuff to pancakes. I like to use: TJs Toasted Pecan bits, coconut flakes, and 1/2 C dried blueberries soaked overnight in 1-2 Tbs. milk. Or a Banana cut up, w/ coconut flakes and macadamia nuts.

Roasted Chestnuts

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
Taste was 5 stars, but too long in the oven left the chestnuts too hard. Probably I wasn't paying close enough attention, but next time, I will just pan fry them a bit and skip the oven. Also, I used one 2 parts sugar, 1 part cinnamon, and 1/2 part ginger.
