Apple Brownies

Reviewed: May 9, 2012
Easy and excellent recipe. I made it exactly following the recipe. The only change I made was to bake it a little longer than 35 minutes and I sprinkled Cinnamon sugar on the top before I put it in the oven. It was so easy and soooo easy to make. Definitely would be crowd pleaser!

Lemon Whippersnappers

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
Made this recipe exactly as stated and if you like very lemony cookies that are chewy, you will love these. I will be bringing these for a Christmas party, so currently don't have other feedback. My only complaint is that the dough was terribly sticky and messy to work with, even after refrigerating overnight. I took someone else's advise and sprayed my hands with Pam cooking spray to help with the stickiness.

Scalloped Potatoes I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I made this for Thanksgiving and followed the recipe exactly. This is so easy to make and it was wonderful and cheesy. I did let it cook longer than what the recipe stated to get the cheese browner, but it is definitely a keeper and was a nice change from the traditional sweet potatoes.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
Made this on Thanksgiving and it is excellent and easy to make. Followed the recipe and only left out the nutmeg & optional items. I would definitely make again. I used 5 Granny Smith and 2 Honey Crisp apples and it was plenty and very tasty. The baking time however was much longer than stated, but that could be oven related. Definitely will make again. Thanks Jackie Smith

Baked Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
Just made this today for 1st time. The changes I made were: Used whole wheat flour, used only 1/2 teas salt, used 1/2 the nutmeg, added 1/4 teas allspice, used 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup Splenda, used Lactaid milk (didn't have buttermilk) and sprinkled top with cinnamon sugar and sliced almonds. Baked it exactly 1 hr and it turned out moist. If you are looking for a sweeter bread, this recipe is not for you. I probably would add more to the spices I used and add additional Splenda & Brown Sugar. It tastes good warm and I can't wait to see what it will be like in a day. I doubled the recipe when I made it to get 2 loaves. So I am giving this 5 stars due to the fact it's not overbearing on flavor and for me, it's just right. I also say, it was very easy to make - everything in one bowl was great! I will probably make again, because I can have this on Weight Watchers also - it's only 3 points a slice, compared to other pumpkin breads I looked at! Thanks for sharing this one.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
I just made these for the first time. Didn't have fresh lemons so used bottled lemon juice (1/2 cup) and they turned out very good. Great recipe. Thanks for sharing Patty.

French Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
This stew is very good. I did alter it basically by only adding the following vegetables. Besides the Italian tomatoes, I added chopped onion and garlic, corn, green beans, peas, carrots and potatoes. I didn't have the dijon mustard so that wasn't added. I also cooked it for 3 hrs on a low heat so the meat would be very tender and it turned out excellent! It's one hearty stew during the cold winter days and I feel one way to get all your veggies in, so all in all, pretty healthy too. By adding all the other ingredients, I ended up with some to freeze for another time. Thanks for sharing this!

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I made these for the first time today and they are great. I doubled the recipe and added vanilla also. When done, I did take a few and partially dipped them on one side in chocolate and they were also great. I will be using these for the Christmas holidays and will definitely make them again. A wonderful recipe and very tasty and they definitely do melt in your mouth! Thanks Carol for sharing this.

Janine's Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
This is the 2nd time I made this recipe and it's a great recipe. This time I got a little more creative and added 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1 cup of chopped pecans and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the batter and baked it a little over an hour (this varies according to your oven). Turned out very good if you want that little chocolate "fix".

Bread Pudding I

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
I just made this recipe and it is delicious! Good thing I listened to other reviewers though, it took about an hour before the knife came out clean...I followed the recipe exactly and the only thing I did different was sprinkle a little more cinnamon on top before baking. Very tasty and the next time I will try a carmel or a whisky sauce just to try something new. But this ones definitely a keeper and easy. What a way to use up old bread!
