Ginger-Peach Jam

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2014
This is really tasty. I think I will chop the peaches in the food processer next time and maybe cut back just a bit on the ginger.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2012
Fixed this for dinner last nite, served over rice and it was a hit! Husband and granddaughters both agree..it's a keeper! Only thing I did different was cut the hot sauce to 1 tbls for tender palates. Next time, I will double the sauce ingredients, maybe add even more garlic and ginger and keep the hot sauce to 1 tbls, increasing as needed for the heat.Would have been great to have extra sauce for the rice.

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
Fixed this the first time for Thanksgiving brunch, everyone raved about it. Made it several times since, now I cook the sausage and make the roux ahead so I can reheat the roux, add the milk and cook until thickened, then add the sausage and let simmer until meat is hot. By the time it's done the biscuits are ready to come out of the oven. J.P.'s Big Daddy biscuits and gravy, YUM! Not very healthy but a great special treat.

Spaghetti Salad I

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
Delish! The only change I made was to use angel hair instead of spaghetti. Everyone said they thought the flavors came thru better than with spaghetti

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
Yummy! Made it for our family barbeque and everyone loved it. The only change I made was to add about 3/4 cup of crumbled bacon bits (real stuff) instead of frying the bacon

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Believe the reviews! The best apple pie ever! I used four types of apples because I think it gives a better balance of flavors and added a generous amount of cinnamon since my husband doesn't think it's "real" apple pie without it! I poured the syrup mixture over the apples and topped with a regular top crust sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Baked on a cookie sheet to avoid any oven clean-up from drips. Everyone raved about how good it was.

Hot Buttered Rum Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
This is similar to the recipe I've used for thirty years. I use 1 pound of butter, 1 pound of each sugars and a quart of vanilla ice cream. I always add nutmeg after it's mixed for added flavor. The kids like it just mixed in either hot milk or water so it works for all ages!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
A good recipe that I tweaked for our preference. My husband likes the apples well done in his pies so I added the apples to the sauce (which I doubled) and cooked for ten minutes. I also sprinkled cinnamon on the bottom of a nine inch deep dish pie crust before adding the apples and sauce and topped it with a little more cinnamon.

Cornucopia

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
I made this as a trial run for Thanksgiving. I used a disposable cookie sheet, wrapped it with foil and extended it up at the end for the "tail", covered it with strips of French bread dough I made in the bread machine. It turned out great and wasn't nearly as much work as it looks!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
I normally make biscuits from a mix but decided to make them from scratch for our Labor Day brunch. The only change I made was to substitute butter for shortning. The unanimous opinion was these were the best biscuits ever!

Really good, didn't change anything. Even people who don't care for broccoli liked this salad.
