Healthier No Bake Oatmeal Cookies

Thank you xgainor for a healthier version of a favorite dessert. Like others mine did not firm up but that happens with the original version from time to time. I like that you don't use butter which cuts out a lot of saturated fat. Hubby said to keep this recipe so I will be making again!

Beer Bread I

I have bought and made the Tastefully Simple beer bread for years but it is very expensive. I made my last TS beer bread last week and thought I would search here to see if there was a recipe for beer bread and found and saved this recipe. I made the bread this week while weather held me captive. I forgot the sugar until the dough was in the pan so I baked it without the sugar. It didn't taste exactly like the TS version but I gave it five stars because it was good without the sugar. I couldn't believe how easy and simple it is to make. I used a wooden spoon only to mix and spread the dough. I'm sure it will be even better next time. Thanks for the recipe, Jodi!

Red Potato Salad

Thanks for a great potato salad recipe! I had never tried red potato salad mostly because of tradition and I usually don't buy red potatoes. This year I joined a CSA (community supported agriculture) program and received many new or untried veggies through this program. The last few weeks we have gotten red potatoes as part of our bounty. I cooked them with green beans in the crock pot (love my crock pot) from a recipe found here. Yesterday, I wanted potato salad and had more red potatoes so I did a search and came up with several but this one used low-fat ingredients so it caught my eye. I omitted onion salt and celery because I didn't have on hand. The dill pickles add a surprise taste. My husband and I both loved it. I will be making again!

Lisa's Co-op Kale Soup

I am new to kale and found this recipe to be easy and very flavorful. After reading other reviews on the crushed red pepper, I only used 1/2 tbsp. I used black-eyed peas and pre-cooked spicy Italian sausage(what I had on hand). I also put everything in the crockpot after cooking down the onions, carrots, garlic and kale then cooked it for about 5 hours on low. Served it over rice and it was wonderful. I wil make again. Steff's Shepherd Pie

Tried this last night for dinner and everyone thought it was a keeper. My only change was adding a teaspoon of oregano to the meat mixture and added a 1/4 cup of cheese to the mashed potatoes. This is a good recipe as is and could be used as a base for a variety of flavors. My sister thought it would be good to use bbq sauce instead of the soup, instead of green beans use corn but layer it on top of meat mixture then layer cheese and potatoes.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

This is wonderful! I used cream of mushroom soup, 4 oz. cream cheese and 4 oz. sour cream(both light or reduced fat versions; what I had on hand. I read a few of the reviews and decidetd to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. Follow the recipe and don't add soup until you are supposed to; it turned out great. Hubby said put this in the make again recipe file. I love slow cooker and crock pot dishes. It is so good to come home to a meal or dish ready to eat. I tried to make this once before but my crock pot quit working and ruined the whole thing. Aug 25 2014 - I make this about once a month and we had this again tonight. I must say it is superb. Creamy sauce with chicken that taste like it was roasted in the oven over noodles or rice (great either way). If I could give it 10 stars I would! Thanks Judi Ann for this keeper!

Taco Soup III

Great recipe and as others have said you can add any type of beans you have on hand. I have also made with precooked chicken instead of ground beef. I used the taco seasoning recipe instead of packaged to cut down on salt.

Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce

This is a great cheese sauce and I feel the negative reviews are because the recipe assumes that the cook knows how to make a roux. You have to let the flour cook for a couple of minutes stirring constantly over medium heat for the flour to lose it's raw flavor. THEN add the milk and continue to stir until it begins to thicken. I revised the amount of milk and cheese as some other reviewers suggested. I used 2 cups milk and 1 cup gorgonzola cheese. It was delicious served over baked chicken and bow tie pasta. Cabbage Chicken Salad

Followed HeathahLee's advice but I think I added too much oil. Good way to use up excess cabbage but would NOT put the whole package of ramen noodles or would add more cabbage. Good combination and would make again.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

This was good but the spinach seemed to over power the chicken. We liked the other flavors in the recipe. I used rotisserie chicken from the grocery store deli and 1 box of frozen spinach. My husband couldn't believe that I had added chicken. I will try it again with these modifications - use 1/2 box of spinach or fresh spinach and 2 cups of chicken.
