I am the mother of two girls Audria (10), Suzanne aka Suzy (8) and one boy named Gabriel (6). I am raising them with my boyfriend of two years and I couldn't be happier. I work full time in accounting for a social service non profit agency and really enjoy my job.
My favorite things to cook
I am game to try any new recipe. I really like to try new things, as well as refining old favorites. Baking bread, and other desserts have been my passion at the moment, I can't seem to stop myself.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom cooked most meals, but she didn't have a passion for it. I started dabbling in my early teens and found I had a great love of slow food. I am about to start a new tradition in my family of food made with love. I want meal time to be a calm space where we get togther to catch up on each others day; now that my girls have activites out side the home that don't involve me.
My cooking triumphs
I just started working with yeast, which I was really scared of doing. There really is so much that can go wrong. After a few flops I finally got the hang of it. I am so glad that my bread machine broke. If it hadn't I would not have the joy of kneeding my own dough. It is so much fun!
My cooking tragedies
I was making a ham cheese and veggie chowder for a family I knew who just lost their wife/mother. I was trying to hurry it by not baking the ham first and boiling it in the milk mixture. I ended up with cottage cheese chowder and it was awful. I stayed up until 2am baking the rest of the ham that I had left and cutting it into thin slices and serving it with my home made ciabatta. It was a close call.
