About this Cook
I am a dedicated wife and a devoted mom of a doberman and a calico cat. I love cooking for my husband and occasionally my dog and cat. I donate a lot of time to my local blood bank, animal shelters, and Planned Parenthood.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook lots of things, but my favorites are things that I can whip up quickly or anything my husband will eat (he's a picky eater with texture issues).
My favorite family cooking traditions
I guess my favorite cooking traditions are green eggs and ham or biscuits and chocolate gravy on a Sunday morning. I also like to make sweet potato pancakes and serve them with mimosas and real maple syrup. Making homemade chicken soup for myself when I start feeling sick.
My cooking triumphs
Getting back into the kitchen and making great meals in spite of the negative criticism of my step father and some of my exes.
My cooking tragedies
I was making something with some kind of chocolate sauce and while it was boiling, it splattered into my eye. I tried to make rice noodles for my husband which I had never cooked before. He couldn't eat them because they were undercooked.

Lavonne's Scrumptious White Wine Chicken
This was a little bland, but I kicked it up a little by combining it with another recipe I found on this website for cucumber-tomato sauce over some whole wheat pasta. Yeah, I know, pasta isn't exactly low-cal, but all and all the dinner was great!

Tilapia Scampi
I kind of adapted this to my tastes a little. I only flipped the fish over once. Twenty minutes into baking after turning the fillets over I sprinkled them with a bit of lemon pepper seasoning. Five minutes prior to the last five minutes of baking I added fresh tomato for color and a little extra flavor. This was an awesome recipe and super easy!
