About this Cook
I am sixteen and a junior in high school. Both me and my identical twin sister love to cook. My sister is new at it but i have been doing it for a couple of years now. Cooking allows me to be creative and take a break from the everyday pressures of school and work.
My favorite things to cook
Hmmmm that’s a tough one. I like to make any kind of baked good; Brownies, cakes, cookies. Bread, fresh out of the oven, is also one of my favorite things to bake and eat! I try to substitute fatty and unhealthy ingredients for ingredients that are better for you when i cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite time of the year is fall. One of the many things I like about fall is Thanks Giving. Everyone in my family gathers together at my house while we recreate our favorite family dishes passed down from earlier generations. Also, every Christmas we make gingerbread cookies and turn them into crazy things with colored frosting; and f course we leave some out for Santa to nibble on. ;) Last year my Dad was proclaimed the champion with his mermaid gingerbread woman.
My cooking triumphs
A few weeks ago I entered my first cooking competition. I made my aunts recipe for an applesauce cake and paired it with a cream cheese frosting. I won first place and best of show.
My cooking tragedies
A batch of cookies was baking in the oven. When they were done i went to take them out but one fell off the sheet and onto the coals into the bottom of my oven. By the time i took the cookies off the sheets, i forgot to remove the one stuck to the bottom of the oven. A few weeks later I was baking some brownies while my parents were at work. They were in the oven and I decided to see how they were doing. When I opened the oven door smoke filled the air, flames shot up, and the alarms went off. I, freaking out, called my Mom and asked her what to do. She laughed and laughed at my story thinking it was a joke. I hung up and filled a pale of water and threw it all over the stove. The fire went out and my brownies were burnt. :( Luckily, nothing was seriously damaged. My mom got home, saw the mess, and believed me.

Donut Muffins
These were so good! To make them more like a jelly donut i filled them with a little strawberry jelly. I used a decorating bag with a round tip and inserted it small amount of jelly into each muffin. Yum.

I love smores. Try replacing the chocolate with a peppermint patty or add sliced bananas with your chocolate. Yum!
