Asparagus Appetizers

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
I have also been making these for years. I cut the pieces into 3rds to make party-nibbling a little easier. I use melted butter which I brush on top of the pieces just before baking (it uses less butter this way). I've had people rave about them who actually don't like blue cheese. A definite party favorite !!

Mushroom Liver Pate

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Doubled this recipe the first time I made it....big mistake. We had tons left over -- but enjoyed all the leftovers for a few days. I liked the taste, but didn't LOVE it, so I added about 4 Tbsp. good tomato paste, let it sit overnight and it was wonderful ! Next time I will add more mushrooms and maybe a little cognac. Thanks for posting :)

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
I never tried to make pulle4d pork sandwiches. This recipe was EASY ! When it was finished I added some purchased Bar-B-Q sauce to the meat along with some of the juice. Served with rolls & additional Bar-B-Q sauce and cole-slaw. Got rave reviews from our Thursday lunch crowd at work.

Cola Pot Roast I

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
Made this last night with some changes. It was so delicious, meat totally fell apart. Delicious. I left out celery, sauteed sliced baby bella mushrooms & put aside. I sauteed the onion & 3 cloves rough chopped garlic, then removed and deglazed the pan with 1/4 cup red wine. Put salt, pepper & garlic powder on 2.5 lb. chuck roast, browned in pan on medium heat 8 mins per side. I used a 28 oz. can Italian tomatoes (drained & rough chopped), added 3 Tbsp. tomato paste, salt & pepper, garlic salt, lots of dried parsley & a little ceyanne pepper. Added a whole can of diet Coke to the liquid mix along with the sauteed veggies. In my crock pot, I put the roast, poured the liquid & veggies over. Cooked on high for 5 hours. Removed the meat and thickened with a cornstarch/water mixture. It was divine.

BLT II Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
Very salty -- too much bacon. Taste was ok at first, but next day it was to salty. Took a lot of time to make all that bacon. I would have tried the bacon-bit trick next time. The mixture didn't make an attractive presentation. Made for a big super bowl party and only 2 people tried it and they didn't come back for 2nd dips.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
I've been using an identical recipe for years and it's a proven winner. Wonderful, make ahead & freeze. I defrost a loaf the night before and leave it in a covered glass cake plate when we have weekend guests. Show them where the butter and/or cream cheese are located. Load the coffee pot up. Ready for weekend guests who wake early before you can get a egg breakfast or brunch dish ready for relaxed eating all together.

Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
The question of flour on top is corrected by adding some confectioners sugar dusted on top through a fine sieve. This is the way we always had it in NY..My grandmother's recipe had caraway seeds, no sour cream. Since I don't likie caraway seeds, I always omit...but try the powdered confectioners sugar on top - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The sour cream made a nice moist bread
