White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2014
This was good, but I wish it was thicker. The broth seemed way too much. I would try it again, maybe cutting the broth in half and pureeing two of the cans of beans to thicken it up. Flavor was good though!

Mie Goreng - Indonesian Fried Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
This was a very good base. I used brown rice noodles instead of ramen, and hoisin instead of oyster sauce. I could not find sweet soy sauce anywhere, so I just heated a bit of brown sugar with the soy sauce. We enjoyed this. I might consider omitting the cabbage next time, but that's just personal preference. Thanks for sharing!

7-Up® Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
Wow! These were fantastic. I used the "Homemade Biscuit Mix" scaled down to 8 servings, since I don't keep the commercial kind on hand. I also didn't have 7Up, so used diet Mt Dew instead. They were so fluffy and light! Definitely a keeper, and couldn't be easier. Thanks for sharing!

Creme Brulee Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
Oh. My. Yes. This was so, so good. Only change I made was that I didn't have any heavy cream, so I just upped the milk to 1 1/2 cups. Made these on my griddle at 400. It made 16 pancakes for me. We made a pear sauce to serve over top, using 2 diced pears, 1 1/2 cups water, 1/2 cup of sugar, dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Used a cornstarch slurry to thicken it up. We had this for dinner, and it was the most wonderful fall meal. This is definitely a keeper for us! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!

Vidalia Onion Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
This was excellent! I even froze one of them after baking and reheated, and it was just as good. A lovely onion quiche-type dish. Thanks for sharing!

Indian Chicken Curry (Murgh Kari)

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
This had great flavor. I made only a couple of changes and cut back on the oil and salt a bit. I did find that it was pretty watery for my taste, so I added some cornstarch slurry to thicken it up. We enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing!

Mandarin Chicken Bites

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
These were quite good. I served as a main dish over Onion Rice from this site. My only thought would be to perhaps add a little cornstarch slurry to the sauce, as it didn't coat the chicken quite as well as I wanted. Thanks for sharing!

Fried Rice I

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2012
This was very good. I did not use the additional vegetable oil but instead just used the bacon grease to fry it up. I also used leftover refrigerated "Onion Rice" from this site. It was a keeper for us! Thanks fr sharing!

Ozarks Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 31, 2012
This was a pretty good basic potato salad. As is, it's pretty bland...I added garlic powder and onion powder and it still was a bit short on flavor. However, would be easy to remedy. We enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing!

Amy's Barbecue Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 31, 2012
This was excellent. I used grilled chicken leftover from another meal, and omitted the corn and black beans. Wonderful salad that we thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for sharing!

Honey-Brined Fried Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 16, 2012
Wow! This was wonderful. I followed exactly with the exception of substituting half-and-half for the buttermilk (I had some I wanted to use up). I was a little afraid I would burn them to a crisp, as my chicken breasts were pretty big, but I just turned them a couple of times and they turned out well. This is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing, Chef John!

Chocolate-Cherry-Banana Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: May 7, 2012
So, so good! I was just making this for myself, so I modified the proportions for an individual serving. I used 1 small banana, 1/2 cup of frozen cherries, and 1 cup of dark chocolate almond milk. Yum! I will be having this for breakfast a lot, I can tell. Thanks for sharing!

Orzo Tomato Artichoke Salad

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
I made this for Recipe Group this week. I had to make a couple changes based on what I had on hand- I was out of balsamic vinegar, so used red wine vinegar instead. Also, used dried basil instead of fresh, one large tomato chopped, and a slightly smaller can of artichokes. We ate this warm, and it was delicious! I have a feeling that it will be even better cold, but we don't have a whole lot left :). And it made a large batch. I would definitely make this one again. Thanks for sharing!

Shrimp and Sweet Corn Maque Choux

Reviewed: May 4, 2012
I had high expectations for this dish, but it just didn't quite do it for me. It was too spicy for me- and I;m not sure what the purpose of the half-and-half was. It just made it watery. Sorry, I won't be making this one again.

Gulliver's Cream Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
This was good, but not quite what I had hoped. I used evaporated milk as suggested by other reviewers in place of regular milk. I also did not use any msg. However, I followed the directions exactly. It just didn't thicken up for me. I ended up adding a bit of cornstarch in desperation, which did help a little. It was good, but I'm not sure it'll be a repeat for us. Thanks for sharing!

Easiest Falafel

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
These little patties are amazing! I did need to blend in more panko to help them hold their shape, but otherwise made exactly as written. Hubby was very pleasantly surprised by this one, as was I. I didn't even serve it with a sauce- the curry lends such a lovely flavor! I simply served it with some roasted vegetables, and it was a wonderful vegetarian meal. Thank you for sharing- it's a keeper for sure!

Pumpkin Risotto

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
This was delicious. The only thing I did differently was heat the liquids over low heat. I didn't need the last 1/2 cup or so of liquid. Also, I only had dried thyme, so that's what I used. We really enjoyed this, and it let me use up half a can of pumpkin that I had sitting in my pantry. Now, I just need to use up the other half!

French Toast I

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2012
This is a good, basic french toast. One word of caution, in case you are a french toast newbie like me- wait until you are ready for the next slice to dunk. I kept one of the slices in the egg mix for way too long and it soaked up too much. Quick dunk is all you need. Thanks for sharing!

Refreshing Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
This was good...simple, light, and refreshing. It did get a bit runny, but was still tasty. I think I prefer a little sweetness to my cucumber salad, but I would make this again. Thanks for sharing!

Garbanzo Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
I had a hard time with these. I followed instructions, although instead of carrot added some chopped onion I wanted to use up. Also had a jalapeno instead of red chile pepper. I should have listened to the other reviews regarding adding an egg and breadcrumbs...these totally fell apart. After baking them the 20 minutes, I tried to flip them as instructed and they were complete mush. I broiled them for a few minutes then tried again. I had two of them that only cracked in half, but the rest were in pieces. The taste was alright, but texture was off. They were somewhat salvaged with a sour cream/cilantro/lime juice topping, but I don't think I'll be making them again. Just didn't suit my tastes, I guess. Sorry, but thanks for sharing anyway.
