Peach-Basil Sangria

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
I did not have enough fresh basil on hand, so I only used about 1/3 of the 1 cup. It was delicious, but, I cannot wait to try the full recipe!

Pork Chops with Blue Cheese Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2007
I loved it! I combined 2 recipes as I had to work that day. I seered the chops in butter and seasonings listed here, then used the slow cooker recipe for sour cream chops. I cooked the chops all day in chichen broth and onions. When I arrived home the chops were so tender! I took some of the broth and onions with the blue cheese half and half and about 3 tbs of sour cream, simmered with the chops until thickened. Served over egg noodles. My husband does not care for blue cheese much and went back for 2nds!

Chewy Oatmeal Cherry Toffee Crisps

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2006
Very good. Read the reviews 1st then made adjustments. I thought toffee would make them too sweet so I added 1 cup chopped almonds instead. I also reduced brown sugar by 1/4 c and increased white sugar by 1/4 cup (cookies didnt spread too much. I also substituted 1/2 c shortening and 3 tbs water (or milk) for 1/2 c butter (also reduces spreading). I added 1/2 tsp almond extract for more flavor. I, too chopped the cherries for cost purposes and there is plenty of cherry throughout! Delicious!

Guy Approved Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2006
A keeper! I added shredded sharp cheddar, cut back on both of the crushed items (I thought it made the loaf too moist), 2 tsp horseradish, 1 tsp mustard (dry) and fresh garlic. VERY picky father-in-law ate 2 helpings and took leftovers!

Genoese Sponge

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
I have not tried this one in particular, but, in defense of this recipe, genoise is typically a dry cake. This allows you to add extra flavor and moisture through a simple syrup flavored with any liquer or extract(thus, minimizing the egg taste) You must keep the genoise covered and/or use quickly as it does dry out quickly.
