My favorite family cooking traditions
Spritz cookies at Christmas. I am the owner of a family heirloom - the hand held Miro cookie press that my mother got with trading stamps in the '60's. It is my responsibility to bake Spritz cookies for the family.
My cooking triumphs
Stuffed cabbage from a recipe my husband found on the web. It came from the Hungarian army in World War I. We had enough stuffed cabbage to feed a small army.
My cooking tragedies
I was putting a cream cheese apple tore in the oven and checked the bottom of the springform pan. Suddenly there was cream cheese, apples and cinammon goo all over the oven.

Claremont Salad
Great salad and easy to make. It took longer to clean the food processor than preparing it. Tastes great with 1 tsp of salt and reduces the sodium content by 2/3's.

Mushroom Risotto
This was the best risotto that I'v ever made. I used shitake mushrooms that I had bought at the local farmers market. To cut a few calories and fat, I used fat free evaporated milk instead of cream and 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese. Added some of the left over evaporated milk when heating up the left over risotto.

Ellen's Lemon Zucchini Bread
I tried this recipe as I had a few zucchini in the refrigerator and it sounded interesting. My husband and I loved the lemony taste of this moist bread. This recipe is a keeper.
