Fusion Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2014
This is hands down the BEST chili I've ever had. I've made it 3 times now and get rave reviews every time. The honey gives it a nice sweetness that I don't think is overbearing. For the hot sauce I use Sriracha which, along with the ancho chile paste, gives it just the right amount of kick and I love the sweet/spicy combo. I like to make it the night before and reheat it the next day, it really helps infuse the flavors and makes it taste even better. This recipe is just perfect.

Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes

These were amazing. The pieces of crystalized ginger really made these cupcakes even better. I loved this recipe as written and will make them again.

Tom Yum Koong Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2012
I hadn't had this since my trip to thailand last year and this recipe tasted pretty authentic. I substituted the water for chicken stock and did notice that it was already spicy before adding the thai bird chiles so I only added 2 instead of 4 and waited until the end to add them like another reviewer suggested. Very good! I will save this recipe and make it again.

Fresh Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
I made this exactly as it was written and it turned out perfectly. This was my first time making rhubarb pie and the results were great. I was worried it would be too sweet because it seemed like so much sugar but it was just right, the perfect balance of sweet and tart. I'll be making this again for sure.

I made these for a kids birthday party and both the kids and the adults devoured them. They were so easy to make and tasted very authentic. They were a huge hit. *Note: the dough is too think for a pastry bag, like another reviewer, my pastry bag broke from trying to sqeeze the dough through. I just ended up rolling them out by hand (a little smaller than the size of a cigar) and they came out just fine. I'll be making these again.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
OMG, this was amazing. It seemed to get moister and taste better every day. I followed the advice of some of the other reviewers and did 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/2 cup oil, added 1 tsp vanilla and used 2 cups of white sugar and 1 cup light brown sugar. I also added the cinnamon, brown sugar and melted butter glaze (just microwaved the 3 ingrediants until they melted into a glaze and brushed on the warm loaves). The results were unbelievable, everyone loved it.

Vegetarian Purple Potatoes with Onions and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
I just love prurple potatoes. I followed this recipe for the most part except I didn't have mushrooms and I added a little chopped garlic when I sauteed the onions. The fresh terragon added a nice flavor. They tasted fabulous. My husband loved them and asked for more. I will make these again.
