I'm very family oriented. I am also very active in my church. If there's anything going on in either of these you will find me right in the middle of it. I've been married to my BFF for over 35 years. We were 18 and 19 years old when we married so we really grew up together. I'm a stage 4 breast cancer survivor so I've learned to appreciate the small things. My life is not perfect but I have learned to be content with what I have.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook for others. Living in South Missisppi I love to grill to keep from heating up the kitchen. My husband and I camp a lot, so I love campfire cooking. I love hosting parties and showers, so I love appetizer and baking recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In Mississippi people love fried food but I am trying to break that mold in my family. Any get together in the South seems to rotate around food (fish fries, dinner on the ground, etc.) so it's always a challenge to try to incorporate healthy food and habits into our lives at home and socially.
My cooking triumphs
Any time people ask me for a recipe I am pleased. I love to take a basic recipe and make it my own.
My cooking tragedies
Always try a recipe at home before making it for a party, lunch, shower, or anything to be fed to friends and family. That's a lesson it only takes once to learn!
