Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
Pretty good, although the cooking time required to get the bacon brown and crispy was significantly more than the recipe suggested. Next time I'll add some spice to liven them up a bit, as they were a touch bland.

Bacon-Balsamic Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
I made these for the first time for my own house-warming and they were such a big hit that the next three parties I went to served them! I didn't change a thing from the recipe except that I mixed everything in a gallon size ziplock bag, snipped off the corner, and piped it into the eggs directly from there!

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Super easy bread to make. I used the dough cycle on my bread machine, then rolled dough into a loaf pan and baked it for 40 minutes at 375 degrees F. Turned out beautifully crisp on the outside and light and fluffy inside. I will definitely be using this recipe again.

Mandarin Butter Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
This recipe is fantastic!!! I bought a new electric cookie press just to make these, and I was NOT disappointed. It was super easy and everyone that tried them absolutely loved them. I didn't do a lot of tweaking, but I did use seasonal mandarin oranges for the zest and added a bit more vanilla as well as a little of the manadrin orange juice. I also sprinkled some nutmeg in, as I am totally addicted to anything with nutmeg. I will definitely be keeping this one in my holiday repertoire.

French Herb Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Loved this recipe! It was my first hand kneaded bread and it was super easy and turned out perfectly! I will definitely make it over and over again. I didn't have any onions on hand that day, so I used dried minced onion and it was just fine.

Pumpkin Gingerbread

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
I made this exactly according to the instructions, but ended up with a super dense lump of banana bread wannabe. The loaves smelled fantastic, but even after doubling the cooking time, they were doughy and yet burned. I have made pumpkin bread before with great succes, but not sure this is the right recipe for me.

Mongolian Beef and Spring Onions

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2010
This was pretty simple and fast - I made it when I had a 10 pm craving for chinese. The sauce is pretty sweet, but I love how crispy the flank steak gets. I will definitely make this again.

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
I made this exactly per the instructions, and it turned out beautifully!! The recipe notes that frozen blueberries require more cook time, and they weren't kidding. I cooked it for an extra 30 minutes with frozen blueberries. I brought it to work almost two weeks ago and I still have at least 1 person a day ask me to make it again. I have had 3 people say it is "the best" cake they have ever had! I plan to make this all the time.

Vegetarian Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
I love curry, eggplant, mashed potatoes and Parmesan. Unfortunately, even with the extreme amounts of curry powder and cumin, this was really bland. I had to add a bunch of Costa Rican Salsa Lizano to make it enjoyable.

Baba Ghanoush

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
I should have added a lot more garlic, but instead followed the instructions by the letter. The result was pretty bland. I'm sure with more garlic it would have been much better.

Zucchini Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
I'm not a huge fan of either eggs or zucchini, but I had a bunch of both to use up. I love, love, love this!!! I used gruyere instead of parmesan because I had a bunch already grated. It was perfect. I chose not to add any seasoning, wanting the cheese's flavor to come out. Super easy and loved by everyone who tasted it!

Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Great recipe. I used red curry paste and omitted the chili powder, just enough spice. It's a bit more soupy than I would prefer, but next time I'll just shorten the cook time on the lentils. I also added a handful of fresh cilantro, it was a perfect additional taste!

Garlicky Baked Butternut Squash

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
This was fantastic! I also doubled the amount of garlic and added half of a chopped onion. I also added the Parmesan at the beginning and sprinkled more on top when it came out of the oven. I will make this all the time!

Indian Eggplant - Bhurtha

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
Much easier than I expected it to be. Also, my boyfriend is not really a fan of indian food, but he loved this. I also replaced the cayenne pepper with curry powder and increased the amount of fresh ginger. It was just spicy enough. I also left the onions still a bit crisp for added texture. We will definitely use this one again!

Szechuan Spicy Eggplant

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
I found this recipe quite bland. I was pretty disappointed as I am a HUGE eggplant fan. But, my sister, for whom I made this recipe, was impressed. I used seasoned tofu instead of any meat and added Kecap Manis at the end for a bit more flavor.
