Easy Cheesy Skillet Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
I knew this sounded too easy to be good. I used the basic recipe, but made lots of changes after tasting the sauce. I did cook chicken in the skillet, but I seasoned them with parsley, season salt, and added garlic before hand with olive oil. I cooked the sauce seperately in a saucepan but used Velveeta cheese, 2% milk, parsley, golden mushroom soup, and then added some Italian dressing mix.

Tantalizing Turkey and Blue Cheese Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
Ok, this was yummy! I've made this twice in two weeks and it's a huge hit with family. I changed the amount of pepper used to about 1/4tsp, cut the olive oil to 1 tbsp, cut the eggs down to 2 and I added more breadcrumbs. I didn't make meatballs because the mix was still too moist to hold the shape I needed. So instead I put them into a muffin pan that holds 12 cooked at 375 for 25 mins. I topped mine with spaghetti sauce the first time and brown gravy the second time. No leftovers with this one!

Best Farmers' Market Pimento Cheese

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
This recipe had way too much onion in it, though it was a good base. I added about 1/2 cup sour cream and 1tbs sugar to cut the onion flavor. Tasted great after the additions...love the white cheddar.

Zucchini Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
This is one of my favorite sides. Super easy to make and tastes delicious. I always double the recipe for leftovers and I also add squash and about a teaspoon of Mrs Dash while it's cooking. Thanks for the recipe!

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
Just made this for dinner and my hubby and son raved about how tender the chops were. Followed the recipe exactly as written, with the exception of cooking them a little longer and hotter because I had something else cooking with them. It's a keeper the hubby is already requesting it for next week..thanks for easy recipe!

Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops in Zesty Sauce

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
Followed directions exactly but family was underwhelmed with this dish. Hubby said it was quite bland, but very tender. Not a keeper dish for my carnivores.

Grandma's Iron Skillet Apple Pie

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
Made this over the weekend and it was great! My family couldn't get enough of it. Super easy to make but it tastes like you slaved in the kitchen for hours to create this treat. The only thing I did different was cut the sugar to 1/3 cup that I sprinkled over the apples of each layer. Wonderful served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream..yum!!

Creamy Pimento Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
Wonderful Pimento cheese,of course the longer it say the better it got. Served it on sour dough bread and bagels...yummy! My only complaint was it was really hard to spread on regular bread, hence the bagels. Honestly even with the spread this will be my go to recipe from now on...thanks for sharing!!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
My carnivorous family LOVED this one and has requested I make it as much as possible. I did follow the advice of previous reviews and dredged the chicken before cooking and my sauce was sticky and thick, I'm adding this one to my regular rotation.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
These didn't get the reaction I was expecting. My hubby said the stuffing was really kind of bland. I don't eat meat so I'm reporting back what my critcs tell me. Filling but bland was the verdict.

Creamy Veggie Potato Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
I customized this a bit to my taste. Sauteed one onion, 2 carrots, and 1 1/2 stalk celery together in about 1 1/2 tbs butter with a couple shakes of pepper salt and garlic powder added 5 cubed potatoes 5 cups broth, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, paprika and some Mrs Dash...brought to a boil lowered to simmer covered and cooked for about 15 minutes(I diced potatoes very small) In small bowl I mixed together 1 can evaporated milk and 2 tbs cornstarch added to soup brought to a boil until thickened. YUMMY!!! I also didn't make as large of pot as the recipe makes cuz I'm the only person in my home who'll touch a potato. Good base recipe as listed but I would never cook the potatoes seperate throw it all in together.

Orange Juice Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
This makes a good moist cake, not very orangey though. Next time I'm going to try and pump up the orange flavor by following some of the suggestions in the previous reviews.

Carrot Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Very bland dish. And even more bland the next day. I'm a rice-aholic but couldn't seem to spice this one up no matter what I added or took away. Pretty to dish up but might as well be eating a non-tasty rice cake...

Chicken Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
My carnivores loved this one. I didn't make it exactly the same..omitted the croutons and used a bit more chicken and added some basil, garlic powder, onion powder and chipotle chili powder. I also didn't cook with gravy on the uncooked rolls. Made gravy in saucepan and served as a dip for the finished rolls. My husband said it's a keeper for sure.

Potato Soup VIII

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
This soup was very bland. I added a few tried and true spices(garlic, basil..etc)and it still didn't make this worth the effort. I ended up adding some cheese to make it palatable and couldn't even make myself take leftovers the next day.
