Pot Roast with Balsamic Onions

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
Did not care for it. The Balsamic was too overpowering.

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2014
O.K. Read other reviews and changed it up. Decreased soy to 1 tbsp., honey increased to 3 tbsp., juice of one lime instead of a tsp., zest of half a lime, 1/2 tsp. sesame oil, left out the garlic. It was fantastic. I know I really changed it up, but it was a great base recipe which was what I was looking for. I used chicken tenderloins. The family loved it.

Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2014
It was bland. Researched some other recipes and added a couple pinches of sugar, then a couple dashes of vinegar. Still bland. I would try it again but add some cayenne pepper or kielbasa next time for some more kick. Or... maybe some applewood smoked or black pepper bacon?

Spicy Orange Zest Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Didn't have hot chili paste so I used red pepper flakes instead. Excellent recipe and will definitely be adding it to my meal roration. Will double the marinade ingredients next time to yield more sauce to put over jasmine rice.

Chicken Piccata

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
Both times I've made this, I used chicken cutlets and adjusted the cooking time. Used cooking white wine so I left out the salt. This recpie is quick, easy and very tasteful! You'll love it! Serve it with some salad/veggie and bread of your choosing. We like our bread with fresh made pesto in the summer.

Cannellini Bean Salad

4 stars only because I substituted in the recipe. I used Good Seasons Italian salad dressing instead. It was excellent and the recipe is definitely a keeeper.

Chef John's Panzanella

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2014
Excellent! I kept the ingredients the same but changed the toasting method of the bread. I placed the olive oil tossed bread cubes on a cookie sheet in a 400 degree oven for approx. 5 min. Stirred and sprinkled with the Parmesan, then continued to bake until nicely browned. This recipe doesn't disappoint.

Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2014
I made it in a covered roasting pan. 400 for 15 min., then 325 for 3 hrs. or so. Excellent, except there wasn't enough gravy for us. Will double the gravy ingredients next time and maybe add some extra veggies. I'll definitely be making this again. Nice change from the traditional brown gravy.

Pasta Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
We thought it tasted bland. Next time I would use mild Italian sausage instead. Also some garlic, hot pepper flakes, and basil. I also wouldn't bother layering it. Just mix it all up and top with the remaining mozzerella. I'll definitely make it, my way, again. As always, it boils down to personal preference...

Chicken Mushroom Dijon

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2015
A great winter comfort food. I used chicken tenderloins and doubled the low sodium gravy and mushrooms. The chicken was very tender and there was more than enough gravy for the mashed potatoes too. I also served lemon pepper green beans along side it. It had a nice presentation and the taste was fantastic. Next time, and there will be a next time, I'll add just a little more Dijon. We love the stuff. Thanks for a great recipe DebbyJean.

Cherry Snowball Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2014
My son and his girlfriend loved them. I thought they were just OK. The texture of the coconut was weird for me and the taste of the cherries was too much. Two against one, so 5 stars it is.

Country Green Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2014
I used all the same ingredients but changed up the cooking method. After steaming the green beans I rinsed them in cold water to cool and then drained. While I was doing that, I sautéed the onions in the butter and the seasonings then added the chicken broth. Once combined, I added the green beans and heated through. Before serving, I topped with the crumbled up pre-cooked bacon so it would still be crispy. I also had some grated Parmesan cheese on the table which some chose to use. We loved this recipe and a great winter comfort food. Definitely a keeper.

Glazed Yeast Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2014
I did not care for this recipe. They tasted like fried white bread. The recipe could easily support a teaspoon of salt and 2/3 cups sugar. We're going to stick to store-bought donuts. They taste great, are inexpensive, and you're house won't smell. Also much less work and clean up.

Smothered Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2013
I use precooked bacon slices and always have some bacon grease in my freezer so I change up the order of prep. I do the onions first and keep them warm while the chicken is cooking. It's quicker this way. The sauce is amazing, so I always double it so we can top our jasmine rice with it. It's one of the top five meals requested in our home.

Lemon Pepper Green Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
4 stars only because I had to use what was on hand. 1/2 lb. green beans, 2 tblsp butter, 2 packets of True Lemon ( equal to 1 tblsp. lemon juice ), approx. 1/2 tsp. fresh ground pepper. Excellent! If you're not sure of the lemon pepper, start with a lesser amount. This was a big hit! Definitely a keeper.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
Very good recipe. Because I don't like the taste, I cut the Worcestershire to 1 tblsp., left out the salt because of the ranch and Worcestershire, increased the black pepper to 1/2 tsp. and decreased the sugar to 1 tsp. Next time I'm going to use whole boneless breasts. The chicken was very tender, moist and flavorful. Definitely worth trying if you like rosemary.

Salami, Cream Cheese, and Pepperoncini Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
These are delicious! Unlike the picture on the recipe page, I used thinner sliced salami that I folded cannolli like over the filling and then put a toothpick through the top. I also chopped the Pepperoncini, amount to your taste, into the room temperature cream cheese. Next time I'm going to also use some chopped Jalapenos slices on some of them for the people who like more heat. I'm also thinking of maybe using Soprasata slices, topped with some piped cream cheese and a slice of Pepperoncini or Jalapeno on it. Did I mention these were delicious? If you like the ingredients, you've got to try this. It's also so easy!

Aunt Jules' Balsalmic Chicken with Peppers

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Have made this multiple times. Excellent. I triple the balsamic and brown sugar to make extra sauce. You will have to cook it longer though for it to reduce. I serve jasmine rice with it.

Used all the ingredients as listed except cooked it on the stove in a covered skillet. A very good and easy meal to prepare. This recipe will go into my winter rotation of meals.
