Potato Bacon Chowder

Awesome recipe. I made is just as the recipe suggested and it was absolutely delicious. We ate so much of it we did not have room for the main dish :-)

Scottish Shortbread IV

Tasty but not quite the original shortbread. I guess for an American cookie it taste great but for the true Scottish cookie I think it falls a bit short. I plan to replace 1/2 cup flour with rice flour instead as I heard it gives it the "real" Scottish shortbread texture.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Great tasting recipe. Makes A LOT! Will be freezing most of it. I think I will make only half of the recipe next time. I think I will also add a little bit more corn and leave out the whole tomatoes. I will definitely make it again :-)

Deluxe Blackberry Pie

Great recipe. I think making a puree with half the berries is a great idea. It definitely gives it a nice texture. I added an apple which I pureed as well. I also added 2 tablespoons of butter to the puree mix. I took the other reviewers advice and did only 1/8tsp of nutmeg and 1/4tsp of cinnamon. I think that was plenty and anymore that that would be too overwhelming. I also used lemon juice as I did not have blackberry brandy. My husband really enjoyed this and he is not usually a big fan of pies. I will definitely be making this again.

Banana Cake VI

Great recipe! I substituted 1 cup of white sugar for brown sugar, otherwise I followed the instructions exactly. I did have to give it a little more time in the oven but it was very moist and a big hit! I will be making this again!

Cappuccino Muffins

Yummy recipe! did half and half mini choc chips and regular choc chips. Should have put slightly less chocolate since I did this, because it was a little too much chocolate for me personally. Still a big hit. Will definitely be making this again and again.

The Best Mashed Potatoes

I used 7 medium russet potatoes, 4 oz cream cheese, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/2 stick butter, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, 1 cloves garlic(I don't like too much garlic). Delicious!!!! Everyone loved this!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

This definitely deserves it's five stars. Very delicious and moist. Followed the recipe exactly and made 12 cupcakes (cooking at 350 degrees for 25mins) and also had enough batter for a rectangular pan but don't have the dimensions on hand - that took about 40mins to bake that. I used my food processor to shred the carrots so it was super easy. Also used the food processor for the walnuts until they were super fine because my husband and I like the flavor of walnuts but don't like to have chunky pieces when it comes to cakes - just a personal preference. Did the same with the coconut. I also boiled the raisins in orange/pineapple juice (didn't have just plain OJ) first, per advice from another reviewer. This recipe is a keeper. I was thinking of trying other carrot cake recipes from this site but I really may not need to. Did I already say it was delicious? :-)

Five Flavor Pound Cake I

I followed the recipe exactly. It was a nice, moist and dense cake but I gave it 4 stars because I found it too sweet for me. But that is just my personal preference. I think I will definitely try it again but with less sugar and maybe skip the glaze.
