Very easy to make, with impressive results. Great served with ham. Have also served as an ice cream topping.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
The basic recipe is very flavorful, and lends itself well to experimentation with other ingredients. Craisins are an especially good addition.

Campbell's® Swiss Vegetable Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
I may have done something incorrectly, as my casserole was rather mushy and bland. Back to green beans, I guess...

Bacon and Tomato Cups

These were a great New Year's Eve hors d'oeuvre. Easy to prepare. I made them with phillo shells instead of biscuit dough, which made them even easier.

Glen's Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Smooth and creamy, but not enough cheese flavor to suit me, even though I used double the amount of cheese.

Crunchy Pea Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Great combination of flavors and crunchiness. A nice change of pace from the usual salad flavors. I added a 1/2 tbsp of sugar to the dressing to sweeten it just a little.

Garlic Cheese Grits with Shrimp

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
Very tasty, a great change of pace. Cooked grits with chicken stock, and substituted 6 oz sharp cheddar cheese for the processed cheese.

T's Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
Very tasty, but just slightly crisp. Did not pre-microwave. Cut pieces the size of regular french fries. Tossed them in olive oil, then seasoned with garlic salt, paprika and fresh ground pepper.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
Easy and delicious. I used 6 fresh chicken breasts, and cooked on high for 4-5 hours. Used Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce (Honey Smokehouse flavor). Shredded the chicken near the end of the cooking time, then placed back in the sauce. Served on toasted hoagie rolls. Makes a mountain of chicken, so I will probably cut the ingredients in half next time.

Marzetti® Hawaiian Slaw

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
Very nice change of pace in the slaw world. I omitted the raisins and coconut, and used chopped dried tart cherries and chopped pecans. They ompliment the pineapple nicely, and are nice for "non-luau" events.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
I used this sauce for the "Amazing Ribs" recipe. I made it without the liquid smoke and worcestershire (which I forgot to pick up at the store) and it was still very tasty. A single recipe made enough for 3.5 pounds of ribs.

Amazing Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
Although the process is long, it is very straighforward, and not time-consuming. Would recommend grilling on medium heat for just 5 minutes to avoid burning the sugar in the BBQ sauce. Can be left in the crock pot on low heat for 1-2 more hours after the initial 3 hours on high. I used the Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce recipe by Kevin; another winning recipe!

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
I liked this recipe, but only because I made the modifications suggested by other reviewers. I decreased both the butter and the sugar to 1/2 cup each, and it was still plenty sweet and plenty tender. Really, the texture is so soft, it's almost more like spoonbread than cornbread. Surprisingly, the chopped green chiles added very little spice. When I make this again, I will probably add more flour to give it more structure, and I may try substituting finely diced jalapeños instead of the canned green chiles.

Ham and Cheese Picnic Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
Easy and fun to make, just a bit time-consuming due to the time needed for dough rising. I plan to make it again with some different fillings (bacon, sautéed onions, cheddar cheese, etc.)

Fruity Fun Skewers

A great portable way to carry fruit on a picnic. I used cantaloupe, pineapple, kiwi, grapes and strawberries, so no problems with fruit pieces turning brown.

Picnic Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
The basic ingredients are fine, but the proportions need adjustment. I used mini bow-tie pasta, and would cut the pasta back to 1/2 to 3/4 pound. I used a whole cucumber, seeded and chopped; 2 cups of chopped broccoli; a whole red pepper, seeded and chopped. I combined the rest of the ingredients to make a dressing, then added it to the pasta and vegetables. I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup and added 3 tablespoons of Miracle Whip. After adjustments, I really did enjoy the flavor, with the mustard being a nice change of pace from the usual creamy pasta salad. The recipe as written makes a huge amount, so I probably won't make a full recipe again unless it's for a church supper.

Wonderful lemonade! I like mine a little tart, so used only 1 1/4 cups of sugar. Made the simple syrup in the microwave.
