Freak'n Good Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
Only cut my slabs in half and marinated nearly 24 hours. Cooked them low and slow for about 3 hours. Used *Sweet and Tangy sauce* instead of bottled and they were AMAZING!

Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
Used this in place of bottled sauce in Freak'n Good Ribs. Everyone just devoured them. Not too hot, not too sweet.

Quick and Easy Ham with Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2007
Very good, but I discovered a variation I like better. I use a can of apple pie filling or a package of Stoffers escalloped apples in place of the pineapple. yum.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Used Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ sauce and Wishbone's Robusto Italian dressing. Made great sandwhiches and even better pizza with the left overs!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
Used leftover *A Number One Egg Bread* from this site from Christmas dinner. Absolutely brilliant! Didn't add raisins...don't care for them in my bread pudding. Great hot or cold.

Oatmeal Pudding Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
So happy to find this recipe! I had it many years ago and misplaced it. Made these for a friend for Christmas whose favorite cookie is oatmeal raisin...I did add about 1tsp of cinnamon...he just loved them. In the past I've used butterscotch and chocolate pudding with excellent results.

Cider Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
This was just brilliant! I used flour instead of cornstarch and it worked just fine. When it got a bit too thick after sitting in the fondue pot a while...I warmed some addition cider in the microwave and stirred it in just a little at a time. We used Italian bread and lil smokies to dip...was outstanding and soooo simple.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2006
This is SO wonderful! I impressed my father-in-law who had lived in Hawaii for a while. The entire time it was cooking, he kept saying, *You can't have Kalua Pork without banana leaves...you can't have Kalua Pork without poi, etc...* He took one bite of this and stopped talking! Take time to find the Red Sea salt...it makes all the difference.

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2005
HOW did anyone make this bread as written???? I just loaded my bread machine with the ingredients as listed...it looked like a batter bread! I had to add more than another cup of flour to make it come together. Still waiting to see how it turns out.

The Most Delicious Green Beans

Huge hit at Thanksgiving dinner. I did saute the onions in the bacon drippings and substitute brown sugar for the white. The in-laws were impressed and asked for the recipe.

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2004
We really enjoyed this! I used 1 1/2 cups OJ and added 2 cloves of garlic, crushed. I marinated the chicken about and hour before cooking. Thickened the sauce and served over rice. Excellent flavors. Next time I may try breasts instead of thighs.

Chocolate Covered Orange Balls

WOW! My mom made these for years when I was a child, but we never thought to dip them in chocolate! We always rolled ours in crushed walnuts...which BTW is still very good.

Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2003
Ok...this is good stuff! The recipe is also very fogiving. First off...I didn't have dark beer. The 7-11 I stopped at didn't have any in the single cans/bottles and since I'm not a beer drinker I didn't want a 6 pack. I bought a Miller Genuine Draft. I also bought a cup of Dark French Roast coffee while I was there! Whoever stated in their review that the coffee and beer flavors came through must not have cooked it long enough. I do not drink beer OR coffee, but found no hint of their individual flavors. As many other reviewers...I used all ground beef. I didn't want to bother with peppers, so used Rotel with chilies. I also had only 1 can of tomato paste, so I threw in a 2nd can of Rotel. I cut the chili powder and cumin amounts slightly and only used about 1/4 cup of brown sugar. I also had to leave out the beans, since my boyfriend won't eat them. I heated some seperately in a small pan and added them to my bowl. The resulting chili was just marvelous, even with changes!

These are great and my son loved them...but the recipe made FAR more than would fit in my 8 count mold. I need to buy at least two more I think. Makes quite a bit. We used Berry Blue jello and Blue Moon berry Koolaid.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2002
OK..this makes a GREAT crust, but if you plan on using a bread machine you will need to make an adjustment. I made two batches last night..I started with the 3 1/3 cups flour in my machine with the other ingredients and then added the 1 1/2 cups water. TOO STICKY!! I'm not sure exactly how much flour I ended up adding, but I would say it was easily more than a cup. The second batch I made with only 1 cup of the water to start..I ended up adding maybe an additional tablespoon of water to form into a lovely smooth dough. Be prepared to make a few minor adjustments..but be prepared to ENJOY your delicious pizza. This makes a very tasty start to any pizza.

Key Lime Cake II

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2002
I went to make this and realized I did not have any lemon pudding mix...I used a lemon cake and vanilla pudding along with the Key Lime juice. Turned out just fine. My son (5) and my boyfriend thought this was awesome. I made it in a bundt pan, and it is such a lovely yellow color! I did, however, not use even half of the glaze..next time I will use only about 1/2 - 3/4 cup of powdered sugar, and just enough juice to make it the right consistancy. Definitely a keeper recipe, though. Moist and yummy.
