About this Cook
I have been married to a wonderful man for 13+ years. He works so hard (thanks, honey) that I am fortunate enough to get to be a SAHM and have been for the past past 9+ years. My life centers around family. When I have a little extra time, I love to try out new recipes. I have been told I am a good cook and get many requests for my recipes and also requests to be invited to dinner! Check out my recipe blog @ http://deannsrecipebox.blogspot.com/
My favorite family cooking traditions
Love the Thanksgiving dinner preparation. I get to host every third year and look forward to it! We always have the same menu. My favorite thing in the world is a huge slow roated turkey... smelling it cook all day is heaven! Another fond family cooking tradition/memory I have is, as a child my dad was a fisherman and I enjoyed getting to help in the preparation of the beer batter when we'd have a big fish fry.
My cooking triumphs
tacos, spaghetti
My cooking tragedies
2 words... Mustard Chicken!

Chicken Angelo
This was a new and easy way to bake chicken. I will probably make it again sometime if I have Muenster slices to use up but would most likely not make a special point to get the ingredients.... it was good but not "wow".

Guaco-Tacos
I JUST made these for dinner....FANTASTIC! While I was putting them together, my hubby asked where the meat was. ;) I think he was very surprised by how tasty they were and how satisfied he was at the end of the meal. I did use 505 Organic (medium) salsa instead of the homemade and used garlic pepper instead of salt/pepper in the guac. The only other change I made was using black beans instead of the kidney... since they were in the pantry and we prefer them. A definite keeper and perfect light (yet satisfying) summer meal for AZ! Thanks for sharing.

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas
Being born and raised in AZ, tortillas are a staple in our household. That being said, these were just ok. I took other reviewers advice and substituted olive oil for the shortening. Worked great for the Guaco-Taco recipe (also on here) that I needed it for. But I ate one plain and was completely unimpressed for the amount of work involved and ending nutritional value compared to store bought whole-wheat.
