Sloppy Joes II

EZ and tasty! Added 1/4 cup of water.Splash of cider vinegar. Saute onions and peppers....with finely chopped mushrooms that I needed to use up. A great meal with fresh rolls!

Mushroom Soup Without Cream

Oven Pot Roast

Excellent! However, I made a few changes based on what I had. White wine instead of vermouth. Secondly, DH does not like the onion soup mix so instead used a half envelope of McCormicks Au Jus gravy mix with a cup of water. I am usually not big on sauces or alot of gravy but this is one the tastiest!

Baked Haddock

Very, very good! I cut the salt in 1/2. Seasoned with Italian bread crumbs. After the butter drizzle I squirted some lemon over the fish. I agree with other reviewers, put fish on a cookie rack over a tray for absolute crispiness. Also the 500 temperature is correct!....don't modify it! I baked for about 12minutes. Yummy good!

Wow! I was surprised how delicious and yet so simple this recipe is. I was concerned the tomato sauce was not going to have enough zing. Instead, I used chili sauce. A keeper!

Taco Seasoning I

Great recipe! I generally use over a pound of lean hamburger. Add 2/3 cup of water w/seasoning mixture when browning the beef. You will never buy package mix again!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Verrrry Good!! Marinated in the refrigerator for 2 days! Substituted sherry with 2 tble OJ. Also, added a 1 tea. of minced garlic instead of garlic powder. Baste while grilling over medium heat.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

For all the Medium (pink) lovers.....I had two 2lb roasts. Preheat oven for 20min. at 500º. In the mean time, I prepared the meat with a nice coating of Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 tsp each of Kosher salt and pepper. In the oven for 13 min. (Do not open oven). Then reset the oven temperature to 150º for the next 2 1/2 hours. Cooked Medium and juicy!

Crispy Mashed Potato Pancake

It was ok. I had to add a little milk to my potatoes. Also minced some sauteed onion and pepper. I wished I did not leave out the Italian seasoning. Only because other reviewers did. In the end, it lacked something. I will try it again. Perhaps only add 1/2 tea. of Italian seasoning and some grated Parmesan cheese to kick up the flavor a notch to the hum-drum potato cakes.

Maple Salmon

This is a keeper! Especially for those learning to like salmon. This recipe is none too sweet that many fear. I did add 2+ cloves instead of the 1. Also, added a pinch of cayanne pepper to the marinade mixture.

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

Just OK. I just did'nt love it. Definitely add more garlic(at least double) like other reviewers had said. I also added 1/2cup chicken broth. Cook in the crock on low for 4 1/2 hours. Chicken turned out tender and juicy.

Delicious Grilled Hamburgers

Added about 1 tble BBQ sauce. Used only 1/2 tble of liquid smoke and only a 1/2 tea garlic powder. Also, I take the burgers out of the refrigerator about a half hour before grilling.

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Though it maybe unfair for me to rate this recipe because I did not fry. However, definitely do not put in the oven @350 for 30 min. It will turn out soggy. We try to eat healthy and I do not like to fry. If I were to try the oven again, I would crank up the temperature to 400. Perhaps that would encourage a crispier coating.

Sweet Mustard Chicken Bake

For something different, I used thighs. Changes....I used a 1/4 cup honey and a little less than a 1/4 cup of butter. Added 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and black pepper. Baked in the oven for nearly a hour. DH loooves this recipe!

Chicken With Mushrooms

A great entry level dish. Like everyone else, I sauteed the mushrooms in garlic w/seasonings and added cream of mushroom soup. The recipe definitely needs to be supplemented with the extras to give it flavor.
