Visual art and cooking have been a passion of mine since I was a little kid. I have a BFA in art, but started cooking professionally after college when I was in Colorado and then back on the East Coast. Now I am a full time Mom-cook, cooking mostly things that are healthy, fast and enjoyed by my toddlers (when possible!) I have come more into baking recently but still thoroughly enjoy stove top masterpieces.
My favorite things to cook
Right now, partly because they are family favorites, pizzas, pastas, grilled fish, stir-frys and millions of muffins and cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well, my mom was a real Better Homes and Gardens recipe maker, but not much of an innovative cook. Now that I'm here in Greece, I am learning and enjoying the Greek traditions of food, of which there are so many!
My cooking triumphs
I think that my biggest triumph was getting into a few respected, tough kitchens with little experience and cooking my heart out with the rest of the cooks just from what I taught myself. There is nothing like being slammed all night and making it through with no mistakes. I miss cooking for the masses.
My cooking tragedies
The biggest upset I think I've ever had in the kitchen was when I was 8 and tried making an angel food cake for my dad's birthday. It turned out to be a hard, chewy frisbie and I cried miserably.
