About this Cook
French Canadian living in Australia, married. We are parents of two girls. DH is Australian. I have been baking for as long as I was old enough to do so, but I feel I'm still learning to cook meals and the like.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that is not (too) complicated and yields great results. I recently learned how to make sushi rolls, and we love those (the girls are still not keen on them though! Pity!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Can't think of one... but I do remember Dad's wine making and the apple jelly time, and strawberry jam time. We don't have a tradition here with our little family.
My cooking triumphs
Fudge! other than that, each meal I don't burn and is edible, I consider a triumph! :)
My cooking tragedies
A chocolate cake for Hubby's birthday (soon after we met) which crumbled when I took it out of the mould. So I placed the bits (they were large crubs) on a nice serving plate, drizzled the icing on it, and sprinkled with icing sugar... turned a tragedy into a triumph!

Easy Granola Bars
nice, i like that's it's quick and customisable. I used ground up hazelnuts instead of sliced almonds. I also like that it's got lots of oats. I used rolled oats instead of quick cooking. A keeper. Hazelnuts and apricots come to mind, as does white chocolate chips and cranberries. Lots of possibilities. (I just noticed, reading other people's reviews, that I forgot to add the butter to the recipe! oh well, it was nice anyway!!) * * * Made it a second time, used 1 cup almond meal in lieu of sliced almonds, dessicated coconut in lieu of flaked coconut, 2 tbsp rice bran oil in lieu of butter, and added one egg white (just because I had it on hand) and it turned out beautifully! I absolutely love this recipe. I have a healthier one with yoghurt and honey instead of sweetened condensed milk, but I love that this one is so delicious, versatile, and QUICK!!! Thanks again!
