Shrimp Scampi III

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2010
GREAT recipe! I did leave the minced garlic in the sautee pan with the shrimp though. The white wine really makes it. I only had to use about 1/4 cup breadcrumbs to get a good thickness. And I added salt and pepper on the shrimp. I also added chopped parsley. We loved it!

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Every single person at my work came up to me to tell me how great this dish was! They begged for the recipe. I made it again at home and my husband ate the whole pan. I used sliced strawberries (in a tub in the frozen section) instead. My only complaint-and its not really a complaint- is that the crust gets so incredibly hard that you need a chisel to get it out of the pan. :-)

Pecan Pie Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I made these, but I only used the filling part. For the crust, I just used a store-bought roll of pastry dough. I used the opening of a drinking glass to cut small rounds. I pressed them into a cupcake pan. Same baking temp, same baking time. The filling was great. These are so gooey and yummy! Great!

Sausage Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This recipe was very good. I didnt give it the full 5 stars because I kept finding chunks of that flour mixture in the finished product. I cant figure out the purpose for the addition of that mixture. I did follow the directions to a T. Very good, just not the best.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
I was scared to make these because I had simply never tried before. I did use my bread machine. Dough was a wonderful soft smooth mixture. I followed the recipe exactly. No problems. Once the rolls were sliced and placed in the pan for the last 30 minute rise, they didnt double like the recipe suggested. So, I left them for about 45 minutes and then couldnt wait any longer to put them in the oven. They baked up wonderful. Taste wonderful. Great recipe. Fun to make if you have some time on a weekend.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
Great recipe! I doubled the batch. I used one bag of white chocolate chips (12 oz.) and 1 bag (6 oz.) of macadamia nuts. Baked for about 10 minutes until lightly golden all over and they were great. I like mine a little doughey and they were!

Pork Chops to Live For

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Followed the recommendation of just using flour to brown the pork chops. Didnt change anything else. Was great! Husband commented a couple times on how great it was.

Oh-So-Good Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
I guess I am wierd because this dish was not good at all. It was boring. The mushrooms didnt have a place in it. I did put cheese on top, but that didnt even help it.

Chicken Breast Cutlets with Artichokes and Capers

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
I did drain the artichokes and rinsed them because I have experienced the off taste before. The sauce thickened nicely once it was reduced and the butter whisked in. Everything worked just fine, BUT I decided to add more lemon than it called for. This probably wouldnt have been a bad decision, BUT I did this prior to the reducing. Therefore, the lemon flavor was intensified. It was pure lemon. That's all you tasted. I dont think it's the recipe's fault though.

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

I did as suggested and used 1/2 real cheddar and 1/2 velveeta. It was ok, but incredibly rich and thick. Wont make again.

Egg Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
My husband said this was the best egg salad sandwich he has ever had. BUT.... there are some things I didnt like and would change: The amount of minced onions (1/4 c) was way too much!!! I added about half and it was still too oniony for my tastes. Plus, the minced onions are even stronger than fresh. I think I would have rather had fresh minced onion. It wouldnt have been so overpowering. Next, the dill weed was a new thing to me so I just added 3/4 tsp. instead of 1 tsp. It was good. I think 1 tsp. would probably have been just fine. So, to sum it up, great recipe, but I would have used 1/8 cup of fresh minced onion. The onion flakes were just faaaaarrr too strong!

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
I followed this recipe pretty much. I boiled for 3 minutes. I also just eyed how much PB I put in, I think it would have been more than 1/2 cup though. Turned out great!

Perfect recipe. I got a little worried while I was adding the flour, but as I kept stirring it came together. Great cookie! Recipe needed no changes.

Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
I must be caramel apple challenged. I microwaved the caramels for 2 minutes and stirred, stirred, stirred, but there will still chunks. I put it back in for 30 more seconds and there will STILL chunks/strings of caramel. I hoped they would melt as the mix sat, so I went ahead and dipped the COLD apples. I then dipped them in chopped peanuts. As I placed them on the greased cookie sheet, the vast majority of the caramel proceeded to run directly off the apples and onto the pan. I got scared so I placed them right into the fridge again. It was a complete disaster. They tasted great, but they definately did not come out the way they were supposed to.

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
This was absolutely delicious! Makes a full 3 quart pan, almost overflowing. I added a can of sliced mushrooms. I also used more cheese than it called for. Cheese is never a bad thing! I took another reviewer's suggestion and tossed the pasta with the sour cream prior to layering. I think this is a must because it made the dish creamy and nice. I did use the 2 jars of sauce, but looking back, I think it would have been better with more like 1 or 1.5 jars. There was a bit much sauce. I baked it for exactly the time called for and the top was nice and golden. It was so good!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
This is not the recipe if you are looking to do anything without frosting of some kind. These are great cookies with frosting. My experience with this recipe though was sort of a disaster. First, I had slightly less than 5 cups of flour, so I just crossed my fingers and hoped it worked. I chilled the dough, which tasted great by the way, for an hour but it was not cold enough. It immediately stuck to my counter top (which I didnt have any flour left to dust with) I tried powdered sugar to flour the counter and rolling pin but that didnt work either. I gave up and just turned to smishing the dough on the cookie sheets into 1/4 inch thick rounds. They were done at exactly 6 minutes. If baked for the correct amount of time, the bottoms will not color, which is what you want for these type of cookies. Great recipe I think, I was just doomed from the start that day.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
This recipe was delicious despite my mistakes. I forgot to take the recipe with me to the grocery store, so I mistakenly purchased monterey jack cheese instead of Colby/Jack. Then I undercooked the pasta slightly. The sauce is wonderful. I chose this recipe due to the onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Very good. I bet if I bought the correct ingredients it would have been even better!
