To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2015
I have tried this 3 times and each time the batter is so dry. I finally added more milk, oil and berries (plus some vanilla) the last 2 times I made this and hubby and toddler loved them. I will have to search for a better recipe (or keep altering this one). Even so, they do sag a little in middle when done as others have also discovered...

English Trifle

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2015
This recipe has boxed pudding (not custard) but at least it doesn't have "frozen whipped topping" which I refuse to bake with! I would reduce the banana flavor and this would be better than any other "trifle" recipe on this site. As others have mentioned, this isn't a proper trifle, but it's much better than the "American" trifles listed here with boxed pudding and frozen whipped topping - yuck!

Stabilized Whipped Cream Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2014
didn't work - boiling and stirring gelatin is not the way to go (clumping is the result)! another way to stabilize whipped cream is to halve a large marshmallow and microwave until almost melted and add while whipping (use 1 marshmallow per cup of cream)

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2014
I didn't use Worcestershire or sherry (things I never cook with) and hubby and I loved it! Lots of onion flavor.

Pecan Chewies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
nothing special, making it a waste of expensive pecans. might be better with a little amount of chocolate chips. I've never enjoyed blondies, so that could be part of it.

Chewy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2013
Very coconut-y, but that's about it. If you love coconut you'll probably love these (however I love coconut and thought these were just okay).

Dried Cherry Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
i was looking forward to this since i saw another review that said how it stays moist for days...when fresh, it wasn't moist at all, but when i wrapped it in foil that night it became super moist! however, the flavor was still lacing even though i added more cherries than stated. probably will not make agai with so many other recipes out there...

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
i reduced the cheese by 1 cup, but otherwise a great alternative to quiche with a heavy crust!

Sugar-Coated Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2012
i even added extra sugar, cinnamon and vanilla to the batter and they were still a little bland. i baked them a little less than stated (according to other viewers) and they were still a little dry as well.

Blueberry Loaf Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
this was missing something (and i even doubled the vanilla). the texture was nice, but it either needed more sugar, lemon or some salt to bring out the flavor.

Cranberry Icebox Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
i used too much almond extract because i was making a half batch and overfowed when trying to measure out a measly 1/8 tsp, but i think it worked in my favor (i love almond extract). these tasted so yummy! i thought they would be crispier and was pleasantly surprised by the softer texture. i will definitely be making these again with my leftover cranberries!

Eclair Cake with Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2011
this was very easy to make but did use a lot of bowls, utensils, etc. and time. i had a feeling the faux cream filling (made with pudding mixes) was not going to be that great, and it wasn't. the crust got a little soggy for my taste (that dough probably really wasn't mean to be a bottom crust of a "cake"). will most probably not make again.

both hubby and i thought it lacked flavor - we liked the idea, but it just wasn't working for us...

Coconut (Haupia) and Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
it did need more coconut for my taste (and even more chocolate), but this is the second-easiest pie i make and it's worth soooo much more than that! i made it 2 times in the first week!

Cranberry-Apple Streusel Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
This was a little too sweet and also quite bland. It needed a dash of salt or maybe more cinnamon or streusel topping. It sounded quite nice but both my husband and I were disappointed.

Double Nut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
these turned out to be a waste of some expensive nuts. i've tried another cookie recipe from a cake mix and hubby loved it - but these surprisingly had no flavor for all the ingredients that went in them. i will not make these ever again.
