Beef on Weck

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
I am from Western NY and this sandwich is one of the things I fondly remember and really miss eating! There is nothing like the true Kimmelweck roll but once you are outside of Western NY you won't find them. This method of transforming the Kaiser roll really does work though! Thanks for the recipe!

Turkey Bone Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
Made this today with the carcass from a turkey breast we roasted for a mini-Thanksgiving meal! I pretty much followed the recipe exactly except added some fresh carrots and frozen peas rather than mixed vegetables. I didn't have any kidney beans but was going to put a small can of garbanzo beans, except by the time the rice cooked I didn't have much broth left, so I didn't put in any beans. I may have yielded a smaller amount since I was using a breast carcass rather than an entire turkey carcass. But regardless, this is some seriously delicious soup! I plan on freezing most of it so I can share it next week with the family, you know, show off a little heehee. Will definitely make this again!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I absolutely loved this recipe! I loved that you didn't have to pre-cook anything, it was so quick to put together in the crockpot! The only thing I added was an extra can of pinto beans, and I used chicken broth instead of beer. It was perfect today since it's so cold out. I think this is my new favorite chili recipe, and yes, I'd say chili rather than soup. Loved it!!!! Will definitely make again this winter (and next winter).

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
Awesome! I made this today. I did carmelize the onions, cooked them slowly on low for about 30 mins. Used Publix french bread, toasted, and provolone and swiss on top with also some parmesan. It was delicious. This recipe is definitely a keeper. I'm sure I'll make this a few more times as winter is just getting started!

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2011
I made these last night! FABULOUS!!! Probably the best burrito/mexican type dish I've made at home! I'm having some of the leftovers (there weren't many) now for lunch and they are even better today! The only thing I did differently was not put the lettuce and tomato inside the wrap, we added those as toppings. Absolutely delicious recipe!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
Made this last night and we all loved it! I'm not too good at making gravy but just followed the directions and it really turned out well! I pretty much followed the recipe as written except I didn't have seasoned salt so just added in some garlic powder, and used a LOT of onions in the gravy as we love onions! I will definitely make this again.

Sausage Flowers

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
These are awesome! Hard to eat just one, or five.... I also have a similar recipe that was with a sausage coupon (don't remember what brand) and it was the cooked sausage, the cheese and ranch salad dressing. Doesn't sound like a good combination but it really is! And yes, bake the wontons in the oven first, empty, for about 5 mins and then fill and finish baking! Great recipe these Sausage Flowers, thanks!

No Knead Beer Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
I made this bread yesterday and I am now the star of the household LOL! It was so easy and beyond delicious! I used to have a bread machine, but with a recipe like this, don't need one! I think next time I'll separate it into two loaves, or make one loaf and some rolls.....the possibilities are endless! This is one of those recipes that will stay on the side of the fridge as it will be used often! Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe!!

Dave's Georgia Black Eyed Peas

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2013
Amazing! I was afraid of black eyed peas until this recipe! I'm pretty good at pinto beans, butterbeans and awesome at black beans, but was never able to make a good tasting pot of black eyes peas. Until now thanks to this recipe!!!! Happy New Year! Now let me see if I can master some collard greens!

Sweet and Tangy Spareribs

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
I made this recipe for my family when I was trying to creat a chinese-style dinner. I didn't have spareribs on hand but had a boneless pork roast that I sliced into approx 3/4 inch slices. This recipe was great, the sauce was amazing! I will definitely make this again and may even try it on chicken. The only thing is, I mis-read the amount of hot sauce and used 2 tablespoons instead of 2 teaspoons - there was a definite tang, but it was alright. I will be sure to use the correct amount next time! This recipe is a keeper!
