I started baking when I was 17, and within two years, I taught myself how to cook all kinds of things, and now I'm totally self sufficient and eating better meals than the rest of my family.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken, pork, cookies, and cakes. My family has been making fried chicken for generations, and I've heavily modified and improved the technique.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother started making fried chicken, which I love to do. She used to make tortillas from scratch (she was a little Mexican lady), and we don't have her recipe, but I'd like to be able to do that some day.
My cooking triumphs
My first ever barbecue sauce was a huge hit with everyone who tried it, which sort of amazed me, since I just decided to wing it and put some stuff together. My boyfriend and I love trying all sorts of BBQ sauces, and mine is his second favorite ever.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to fry waffle fries did not go well. I ended up with a pan of soggy potato.
