I remarried in November of 2007 and now have five adult children to cook for on Holidays, birthdays and family get-togethers! In the day-to-day, it's just myself and my husband which makes cooking a bit more challenging - we end up with LOTS of leftovers! I'm always on the hunt for an interesting and healthy recipe or a make-over of an old favorite. I love, and prefer, to bake and have an arsenal of great supplies and books that I've collected over the last couple years to make it fun and creative.
My favorite things to cook
My kids say I make a wicked good meatloaf and pot roast. Time is usually limited, so I'll try any meal that is quick but tastes more elaborate.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother always made oyster stew for Christmas Day. After she and my parents passed away, I dropped that tradition in favor of prime rib, but have fond memories of my grandmother and mother preparing the Christmas meal and the wonderful aroma throughout the house.
My cooking triumphs
I can't claim any triumphs, but hope to be able to revise this in the future!
My cooking tragedies
The bottom of the blender hadn't been screwed on tightly after the last use and I didn't check it before using. I had an entire blender full of tofu and milk spill out from the bottom. I know, the combination sounds awful but it helped to made a wonderful quiche filling after I scooped it from the kitchen oounter with a spatula!!
