About this Cook
I am a newlywed who loves to cook! I love to find new recipes and make them my own. It is impossible for me to follow a recipe exactly as written. Unless, of course, I am baking (even then I usually change up some of the "optional" ingredients.
My favorite things to cook
Whatever is in my fridge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As my Grandma always says, "There is always room for another person at the table; throw another potato on the fire!" Everyone is invited to share in the family meal, not all family shares blood, but they do share love.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime my husband and I cook together. When we first got together, the only thing he knew how to make was mac n cheese (from the box). Now one of our favorite things to do is try new recipes, and enjoy our success together!
My cooking tragedies
I like to think of them as learning opportunities

Cream of Celery Soup
I had some extra carrots and celery left over from another recipe that I wanted to use up. This recipe was perfect for that. It seemed like it was lacking in the spices, so I added cayenne, sage, garlic powder, and a touch of all-spice. Really did the trick! Served with grilled cheese (cheddar and cream-cheese). My husband said it was the best lunch EVER!

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle
Delicious! I broke my candy thermometer as I was making this, but just kept cooking it until it developed the right color. Turned out perfect! I used cup and a half of sesame honey cashews (from Trader Joe's) instead of peanuts: the sesame seeds went all through the brittle and created a to-die-for texture.
