Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: May 8, 2011
The high-ratings on this recipe are more for the cooking technique than the actual 4 ingredients. You can play with the spice mix however you want - I doubled the garlic powder and added Montreal Steak seasoning and rosemary. It came out absolutely perfectly. I made this for my Mom on Mother's Day and like some others, I was apprehensive about leaving it in the oven all afternoon, but it worked perfectly. My mom and my husband said it was the best prime rib ever. Thanks!

Lemon Thins

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
These were excellent right after baking: very crispy and perfect lemon flavor. But later the same day, they became soft and limp. the nice flavor was still there, but the crisp was gone.

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
This was a nice change from the usual pasta and sauce dishes I usually make. Next time, I will add two cans of tomatoes because mine cooked down very quickly and left the pasta bit dry for my taste. I added shrimp also because i wanted a protein included. A nice dinner overall, which I will make again. Maybe I'll add sun-dried tomotoes too!

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
These were OK but I wouldn't make them again. I like that they were quick and easy and just took one bowl to make, but the cakes did not have a rich chocolate flavor. If you like a light chocolate, cake brownie, you might like these, but I prefer something a bit richer.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
This pie was outstanding! I used a deep dish pie shell and 4 apples and it was just the right amount. I followed the advice of other reviewers and doubled the amount of topping. Next time I won't double it, but will make one and a half the amount. Doubling it produced just a bit more than I could fit on the pie.

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
This was really good, but I thought it needed to be just a bit sweeter. Next time I will double the sugar or add honey.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
These are the best! I have tried to save calories by baking wings, but they're just not as good as these which are deep-fried. This is my go-to recipe.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
Great recipe. As another reviewer said, you can't screw it up. I made several mistakes and it still came out really good. Next time I will be more careful and I'll bet it will be even better.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
I like the technique of baking rather than deep-frying, but these were a bit bland. I usually do not like hot and spicy and in a restaurant, I would order mild wings. But these had absolutely no kick at all. I will make again, but next time, I will doctor the flour mixture with a lot more garlic powder, onion powder, a bit more cayenne and black pepper.

Linzer Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
Good but not worth the trouble. There are other linzer tart recipes that are jsut as good tasting and much easier to work with.

Restaurant Style Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
This was good for a quick, homemade mac and cheese, but for me, it doesn't compare to a baked mac and cheese. When I am pressed for time, I would make this again.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
I used boneless chicken thighs and browned them in a cast iron pan, then added chicken stock. I let the chicken cook through, then added the vegetables and boiled for 5 minutes (cooking the veg for 15 minutes is WAY too long in my opinion.) Drained the chicken/veg and saved the stock to add to the cream sauce. I will definitely make this again.

Buffalo Chicken Burgers with Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
Recipe is excellent as written. I tried something different for the topping. I used a high-quality blue cheese dressing, added additional blue cheese and some worcestershire sauce, mixed with chopped celery. It was perfect.

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
This is an excellent recipe and was perfect for what I used it for (a filling for cream puffs). Nice and light. If I were going to serve a mousse as a standalone dessert, I think I would look for another recipe that produced a more dense mousse.

Chewy Brownie Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
3 stars because it is just average. I wanted a real, true brownie cookie. This was not really chewy like a brownie and the dough itself was not chocolaty. The choc. chips did make it chocolaty enough, but I was looking for a cookie that's good enough to stand on its own, without the chips, like a good brownie.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
I'm only giving this 3 stars because I thought it was an average recipe. It was a very good cookie, but not so much better than other choc. chip recipes I have tried. Based on the reviews here, I was expecting an amazing, magical, superior cookie. It was very good, but so is the Toll House recipe.
