Being Domesticated....

I am a goddess, this goes with out question.  I would never never describe myself as a very domesticated one.  When I met my Anam Cara (soul mate, domestic partner, husband, whatever word you choose.  I like like Anam Cara), I told him that I did not bake, that I did not cook meat, and that I burned everything.  At this time, I also did not make beds, do laundry or dishes, and I especially did not clean bathrooms.  I guess there are more ways to a man's heart than threw his stomach becauase he is still with me.

So...I have started to work on this whole domesticated thing.  Not because of a man, for all those out there who question that...but because somehow I find it necessary now that its not just me and my dog, but a family....So here I am, on the road to being domesticated.

Welcome, Elveanare! Yes, the routine stuff can be really boring, but somehow it just has to get done. This is a wonderful site for learning about cooking, baking, and things such as cleaning, kids, etc. etc. Up at the top of this page is a tab that says Recipe buzz. Be sure you click on that and you will find a wonderful community of people who are struggling with every-day "stuff" like all of us do. I am retired, and when I worked it was easy to say I was too tired, stressed, etc. to cook and bake, but now I find comfort and enjoyment in it. And this site, and the people on the buzz, have helped me so much. So, we never do stop learning, no matter what our age or situation! Hope the road to "domestication" will be a somewhat exciting journey for you! :-)

I find that cleaning the house or working in the yard or cooking is quiet satisfying to me. I feel some sort of self accomplishment when my house is clean the yard looks nice and there is a nice meal on the table. That is just me. On the other hand my grandaughter that I raised from the age of 6 months is a total slob. She could care less if a bed is made or a bathroom is cleaned or if she cooks as long as there is a tv dinner in the freezer she is fine.

About Me
I'm intense, and passionate about life. I love to learn, and to try new things. I love to cook new foods. I have a teenage foster daughter who commented on the fact I don't have a food staple, because I rarely repeat foods. I am lucky to have a wonderful alternative family--my teenage foster daughter, who is amazing, and my Anam Cara, who is my soul mate in life, and my zoo of animals.
My cooking triumphs
I never thought I could bake. I always burned everything! But...I apparently wasn't giving myself credit, I can actually bake very well!
