Buttery Cinnamon Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2013
I chose this recipe to try to get rid of some Cinnamon Vanilla coffee creamer that I didn't like as coffee creamer. I used the creamer in place of the milk in the recipe, and also in place of the water for the glaze! This cake was SO light and moist, the glaze was delicious. Thank you for the wonderful recipe!!

This was a huge hit for my mom's birthday party! I topped with toasted, sweetened coconut flakes. Thanks for the recipe!

Peanut Butter Balls III

Love these so much! I coat with baker's squares, only because the microwaving saves me a step. These go in my Christmas gift boxes every year!

Candied Jalapenos

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
I despise when people leave a low rating on a recipe because THEY misread or misunderstood! This recipe is perfect, we make it with sliced jalapenos and it's delicious. Thank you!

White Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
Made as directed, except I added Parmesan cheese and garlic powder, would have been very bland without them. Sauce seemed a bit thin, so I added a slurry of cornstarch, but then it was too thick! So if it seems too thin, it's probably not. :)

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
extremely delicious, very rich! I got a lot of compliments on this cake. Mine turned out a tad bit dry, but I think that's my oven's fault, so five stars here! Thanks!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake V

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
I doubled the brown sugar and butter, and I baked this in a 14-inch round instead of 2 9-inch rounds. Delicious!!

Creamy Pimento Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
Simple, fairly inexpensive and absolutely delicious. My edits: I also added some diced pickled jalapeno, as well as cayenne. In the end, and this may sound strange, but I stirred in about 2tbsp. of sugar! Perhaps using salad dressing instead of real mayo would curb this need, but I wanted mine a bit sweeter. Thoroughly scrumptious!!

Strawberry Dream Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
Yummy, yummy, yummy! I made this cake with "Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting" instead of the frosting recipe it comes with, since it was for my little one's first birthday cake. The cake was FANTASTIC, it reminds me of real strawberry ice cream. Every guest at my party had two pieces, and I got rave reviews!

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
Absolutely fantastic! I made my son's first birthday cake (Strawberry Dream Cake I) with this frosting and it was a huge hit! It felt a little runny when I was spreading and piping it, so I did keep it in the refrigerator overnight, but it held up fine and tasted great! Such a super recipe, thank you!

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Made this with 1/2c sugar at the suggestion of previous reviewers. I also left out the half & half at the end, I just served it like it came out of the pan! ABSOLUTELY perfect for a cold evening, now hubby wants some every night! Thanks for the recipe.

Easy Corn Chowder I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Great chowder! Four stars due to the changes I made... I also used Cream of Potato, added an extra can of whole kernel corn with juice and used about 2x the potatoes. I also added the crumbled bacon to each serving instead of cooking it in the soup, along with some grated sharp cheddar and sour cream. A huge hit!!

Wonderful Banana Cake

Airy, light and unbelievably delicious when paired with "Rich Chocolate Frosting"! Next time I will add more bananas, only because the taste was a little TOO light for my preference. This recipe is simple and wonderful, thank you!

Four Egg Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
I was disappointed that the cake didn't have more flavour. I doubled the vanilla as some users recommended and then the "vanilla extract" flavour was way overpowering. Next time I will try the recommended amount of vanilla and maybe another flavour of extract.

Surprisingly simple and unbelievably rich and delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, only my chocolate bar had almonds and toffee pieces in it. This is definitely a five-star dessert! Thank you, Lois!

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
We LOVE this recipe! I followed the advice of a lot of reviewers, I toast my curry in oil then add the onions/garlic and saute for five minutes before adding my chicken. I always add par-boiled diced potatoes and sometimes carrots. I let everything simmer for about an hour and never have a problem with the sauce being too thin, probably because of the potato starch. THIS IS SO DELICIOUS! I've made it at least twice a month for the last two years.

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
One important addition that makes this salad better: 1/3c of salted, shelled sunflower seeds! Plus, I cheat and use pre-cooked real bacon pieces that you find by the salad stuff, AND instead of grated cheese, I use sharp cheddar "crumbles". So amazing!!
