Dill Cucumber Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
This is a great recipe and a great way to use up all those cucumbers from the garden. I did think the recipe was bland. I doubled the dill and also added a teaspoon of cajun seasoning (thanks whoever suggested that)..it made it so much better...just a slight kick and everyone in our cooking club really enjoyed it. Will make it again. Great served with crackers.

Kelly's Super Simple Shower Punch

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This is so easy to make and so yummy! This is a great punch for kids but at the party I brought this to, it ended up being drank by the adults as well...with a shot of vodka added. It was very tasty and a big hit. Highly recommend! Thanks for the simple recipe.

Curried Egg Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
I love this recipe. I'm not sure if it is the type of curry that we used (Penzey's) but my husband and I LOVED this! We did not find it as boring as others but I could see spicing it up a bit. I may try that next time. I did add 1 teaspoon of dried, chopped onions and used 6 eggs instead of 4 like other reviewers had suggested. I may even add an extra egg next time I make it. Fantastic and thanks so much for the great idea! Yum!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Fantastic! Even my picky parents loved this! I added less sugar than suggested. I used a variety of apples, some of which were tart. It worked out fine. I added all of the water which I was glad about since it helped during reheating. Thanks so much for a great recipe! I will make again and again.

Chewy Crispy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
These cookies are fantastic! My husband even likes them and he doesn't care for coconut. I toasted the coconut like some other reviews have suggested but didn't make any other changes. Thank you so much for the recipe!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
These cookies are great! I liked them much more than I thought since I'm not crazy about preserves... I altered the recipe by adding 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon salt like other reviewers suggested. Next time I'll add 1 teaspoon vanilla instead. Fantastic! Thanks so much for the recipe!

Pasta Shells Florentine

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
My husband and I loved this. We used the cottage cheese and followed the recipe except we added pepperoni. Fantastic. Will make again and again. Thanks for the recipe. Update: I have made this 4 times now. It is very adaptable! Last time used fresh arugula instead of spinach and it was great!

Creamy Sweet Potato With Ginger Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I altered this recipe some so I can't rate it as is. I added 1 teaspoon of French Four Spice (by Penzey's) and only one teaspoon of ginger. I thought it was pretty bland so I added about 1/2 teaspoon cumin, about 1/8 teaspoon salt and about 1/8 teaspoon white pepper. I also used whole milk instead of half and half. Great recipe, will make again. May increase the garlic next time.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Love this. Wasn't sure of the cinnamon either but WOW, what a great touch. I used chicken instead of turkey, 3 cups of broth and one cup of water (ran out of broth), added 1/4 teaspoon of French Four Spice and 1/2 teaspoon Black Red (a black pepper and cayenne pepper mix) (both from Penzey's). I didn't add any cheese and it was still great! Thanks for the recipe...this is a keeper.

Carrot Soup with Potatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
Good recipe and really easy to make. I had to add a lot of white pepper to get it to a flavor we were happy with (about 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon). I also added some paprika for richer color and more thyme, about 1/4 of a teaspoon. You may want to take the bay leaf out before blending (I forgot). Good flavor even without the cream. Thanks for sharing!

Overnight French Toast II

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I have made this several times and it's always a huge hit and I always get asked for the recipe. I do not use corn syrup (because I don't want to buy it) and just use syrup in it's place....very good. I add a teaspoon of cinnamon. You don't even need additional syrup when eating. Update: I have made this countless number of times, including for cooking club. It is ALWAYS a huge hit and I constantly get asked for the recipe. Challah bread makes this dish AMAZING! I couldn't find any French bread at the grocery store so the baker suggested this. He told me to double the egg and milk mixture though since it soaks up a lot more liquid than regular French bread. I decided to multiply the egg and milk mixture by about 1.5 and it was perfect! I still make this with regular bread but the challah bread is so much better. I have actually made this recipe (just for my husband and I) with hoagies that had been in the freezer too long and it was still great. A continued favorite!

Apricot Coconut Cookies

These cookies are amazing! I made these just to get rid of some apricot preserves and WOW, what a pleasant surprise! I made the recipe just as is and it was perfect. I may add almonds like another reviewer suggested. Fantastic! Thanks so much for this recipe!

Broccoli, Leek, and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This soup is great! I also question the reviewer that said the recipe states 2 tablespoons of pepper. The recipe I used only listed one tablespoon of pepper. I actually added and extra 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. I also added 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, added no salt, and used turkey bacon. Perfect. I pureed about 3/4 of the soup. When I was in the grocery store purchasing the leeks a woman told me to soak the leeks because they contain "sand". I thought she was nuts but I did soak the leeks for about 10 minutes and sure enough, there was sand at the bottom of the bowl! Not sure if this is true for all leeks but you may want to chop the leeks and then soak before using. Thanks for the recipe.

Fantastic! Easy, quick and very tasty! I think this is more of a dessert than a breakfast food though. I will serve warm with ice cream! Yum!

Black Beans a la Olla

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
This recipe is fantastic. I followed the recipe but did let it simmer a little longer to make it thicker. This is spicy (which I loved) but you may want to cut down the cayenne pepper if you are not a spice lover. The next time I make this, I will probably add more beans. Thanks for the recipe!

Ceil's Cucumber Slices

My mom makes something very similar to this. The only thing I altered, is adding just a couple tablespoons of canola oil, that is the way my mom makes it. Great recipe to use up cucumbers and peppers from the garden. Thanks!
