About this Cook
Mother of two teens. Stay at home mom. I like to have good meals ready when the kids get home. They love the suprise of "what's for dinner tonight".... My husband who is a computer guy now was a sous chef, so I learned a lot from him...I like to garden, hike, ski, travel, and spend quality time w/family.
My favorite things to cook
Anything...but it has to be rich in flavor no matter what it is.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Italian grandmother (rest her soul) learned how to make potato perogies from her polish mother-in-law ...my grandmother then taught me when I was young and I always made them with her..now, I am the only one in the family to carry the tradition on!!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust
first time I made my own pie crust. Followed exact. EASY! and came out great! I did not freeze my butter as other reviews mention, just cold from fridge, and I used a pastry cutter to cut butter in by hand and it only took a few minutes. I used it to make a pumpkin pie and cooked it in a stoneware pie plate. Everyone loved it!

Lavender Shortbread Cookies
Used lavender from my yard...followed recipe exact except I followed some others and rolled the dough into 2 "logs" and refrigerated that then cut into 1/4" slices. I loved these! Will be adding to my favorite "summer" cookie list.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
followed recipe exact, except I sliced potatoes slightly thinner then 1/4". These were a big hit in our family. Very tasty! I didn't think that the sauce would work its way down all the layers of potato and the onion...but it did.
