Cream Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
The cupcakes themselves are all right. Not great but not bad. The filling turned out awful, and the cupcakes are too dense for filling. The only way this would work (that I can see) is by coring the cupcake and then filling it, but I'd use a different recipe for the filling. I won't bother making this recipe again.

Crumb-Coated Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
Delicious and easy! Used thigh fillets that I got on sale, so this was super-cheap, and turned out juicy and very yummy. Husband ate twice what he normally does, and even my picky six year old twins were willing to eat it. Will definitely be making this on a regular basis.

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
Made the yellow cake tonight. Holy ! Delicious, light and fluffy, great texture and taste. Blows boxed cakes out of the water. This is my new go-to cake recipe. I used butter instead of shortening (not a fan of shortening really).

Sarah's Rice Pilaf

Really delicious! I'm allergic to onions, so I omitted that, but otherwise I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out great.

Streusel Topped Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Good, the streusel worked quite well. Need to be eaten while hot! These don't keep well. But they're quite easy, and do taste much better than a box mix. I think making this recipe with a cinnamon swirl rather than blueberries would be really yummy, will try it out and add an edit.

Vanilla Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I made this at Thanksgiving and while I thought it was good - I'm not usually a big pumpkin pie fan, so I like that it didn't taste like a traditional pumpkin pie - my husband wasn't as keen on it. He said it "didn't taste right", which is vague, but that's my husband for you. So four stars averaged out between us ;)

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Just made these this morning - made a small batch (sized down to one egg) and there was just enough mixture for three one-inch thick slices of the homemade bread I made yesterday. The taste is utterly delicious, and they fried up beautifully on the pan. I had read the previous reviews so I did not "soak" the bread, just dipped it in until it was coated. Delicious!

Jeanne's Chocolate Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Utterly delicious - I made them exactly as the recipe said and the dough turned out perfectly. I used Candy Cane Hershey Kisses (a peppermint kiss with a tiny bit of crunch to it), and I swear I think I might leave my husband for these cookies. My kids, who normally don't like chocolate cookies very much, could not stop eating them. They got up at 5am to sneak the container of cookies into their room and pig out. I made a few with Hershey Hugs also (ran out of Candy Cane Kisses) and it was equally delicious. The mint is really perfect with the chocolate, though. Love this recipe!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
Very easy and extremely delicious! I read the other reviews before starting and let the butter get good and mushy. Turned out perfectly. Still deliciously chewy four days later too. My kids love them.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
I make these regularly. They are delicious, easy to make, and my kids go nuts over them. Now if only I could figure out a way to cut the dough without squishing the perfect spiral... ;) I make a simple glaze to go on them - 1 tablespoon of butter, bit of vanilla, bit of milk, and powdered sugar to a gloopy consistency. Perfect.

These are really delicious. Very soft! The flavoring is perfect. They keep well, too.

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
This was my first attempt at making tortillas. I think I need to work on it more ;) I did think they tasted great, especially fresh, but mine turned out blackened in spots. I burned the first two at high heat, turned it down to halfway between medium and medium-low for the rest of the batch, and that worked better. There's probably a trick to this I'm not aware of...

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
I wasn't impressed, honestly. Not chocolate-y/fudgey tasting enough for me. Kids ate them, they're not picky when it comes to brownies.

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
This smelled absolutely mouth-watering, but the taste didn't fully live up to that. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't great. The potatoes were definitely my favorite part.

Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
Really easy and delicious. I don't have a food processor, I did the whole thing with a pastry blender. Butter was from the fridge, not frozen. Used half-and-half with a bit of vinegar instead of sour cream, as I didn't have any, and added dried mixed fruit (blueberries, cranberries, cherries). Turned out great! Definitely going to make again.

One Bowl Brownies

These are by far the best brownie recipe I've ever tried. Fudgy and gooey. I haven't bothered with any other recipes since I discovered this one!

Absolutely Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
Snowed in and out of key ingredients for my usual brownie recipe, I gave these a try. They are quite delicious! Very quick and easy to whip up, the kids liked them, not cloyingly sweet, and a great cake-y texture. Loved them. Will try the chewier version next time to see how it turns out, but overall very impressed. Kids loved them too!

Soft Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
Extremely difficult to roll out, but tastes great. Adding an extra bit of flour (maybe 1/4 cup) made the dough much easier to handle - made a second batch into cinnamon sticks for dessert.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I made this recipe exactly as described. This was the stickiest dough I've ever encountered. I swear it wasn't a cookie, it was glue. I literally had to take a spatula to scrape it off my heavily floured countertop. After adding an extra cup and a half of flour and re-chilling it, and using a ton of flour to roll it out, I managed to get cookies. Baked at 350 for 6 minutes, they taste all right. Not the best I've had, certainly not the worst. Not as floury as I worried with the amount of flour I had to use to make them roll out. They're still pleasantly sweet. I'm going to dip some in chocolate and frost the rest. Though they came out all right, they're certainly not worth the aggravation involved. I read the other reviews and I don't know how mine turned out so sticky that I had to add a ton more flour while others thought the dough was too dry and added less! What a weird recipe. I won't be making this again.
