Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2013
This was a great recipe. I was a little skeptical but based on the reviews decided to give it a whirl. It was very good. I followed the directions but added some cooked diced chicken to the mixture to make it more of a main dish. It hit the spot! Thank you!

Fresh Pear Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
I honestly think this tastes better than apple pie. I had a bunch of pears from my sister-in-laws tree so decided to triple this recipe and freeze the other two batches for another day. I did not have a lemon on hand so that was omitted. I also topped with the crumble topping that another viewer listed: 1/2 C. butter (melted), 1/2 C. brown sugar mixed into butter and then 1 cup of flour. I also added into this crumble some walnuts (I didn't have pecans on hand). A great pie crust recipe on this site is "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust" if you're looking for an easy homemade crust to accompany this. I baked at 350 for an hour. Thanks for making me look like a master baker!

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Good crust. I will use this again for sure. I didn't change a thing. I divided this into thirds and froze the other two for another day. My husband said it was really good crust (better than his Mom's) so it's a winner!

One Dish Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
Very good and SO easy! My husband isn't a huge chicken fan (we raise cattle) but I am. So, he has to deal with chicken of some sort through the week. He even raved about this meal so I know it's a keeper. Thank you!

Slow Cooker Chile Verde

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
This came out great! I couldn't find stewed tomatillos as one reviewer said to use so I just followed the recipe. It was so yummy and the meat was so tender. This makes a lot so I ended up freezing a good portion of it for a later "lazy day" dinner.

Apple Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
We had a ton of apples from our yard so I've been making apple whatever to use them up. Since our apples are a little on the tart side, I increased the sugar by a half cup. I chopped the apples into small chunks instead of shredding. I also used more apple. This did help with the apple flavor. Great recipe!

Bacon Potato Salad with Ranch

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2013
I've made this potato salad twice now. It was requested a second time because they liked it so much when I made it at a prior engagement. I did change it up a bit. I used 1-2 cups of homemade ranch dressing (I like my potato salad creamy and they tend to dry out). It's not fat free by any means but really does make the yummy flavor. Also, instead of mayo, I used miracle whip. I feel like it gives it more flavor than mayo. Also, added a little horseradish and didn't have parsley the 2nd go around so used dried. It tasted just as good as the first batch that had the fresh parsley. Everything else I left as is. This is a keeper recipe! Thank you.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
This was a good recipe. I am high altitude so I used half the amount of yeast and next time I will bake at 375 degrees. The bottoms got way too dark before they were a nice golden brown. Other than that, this recipe is simple and versatile.

Candied Yams

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
EASY and SO GOOD! I was short for time so I melted butter in a electric fry skillet, threw the DRAINED yams in, sprinkled the brown sugar and mixed all together. I let them simmer for 5 minutes or so and then transferred to a baking dish. I sprinkled with the marshmallows and put it in the 400 degree oven for another 5 minutes or until the marshmallows were golden brown. Everyone loved it!

Easy Turkey Gravy

I just made this as a test run for Thanksgiving. Very yummy. I followed it almost to a tee. We'll be using this as it's easy to prepare and fool proof because of the chicken soup. Great recipe!

Country Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
I really liked this recipe. I made some changes, however, and it turned out great! I mixed the chicken, soup, milk, corn, some green onions and fried onions together first. I then seasoned the mixture with garlic powder, onion salt and pepper. I fried the hashbrowns so they were a bit crispy and warmed through. I layered the hashbrowns first, spread sliced velveeta over the top of the hashbrowns, then poured the mixture on top of that. I baked and topped with more fried onions as directions stated. It was really yummy. Will definitely do this one again!

Barb's Broccoli-Cauliflower Salad

Reviewed: May 10, 2012
I always use this recipe. It's a great summer salad. I recently made it for our branding and everyone loved it! This time I added a little bit of horseradish to the dressing and chopped up some green onion and red pepper that were just hanging out in my fridge. I used balsamic vinegar as I didn't have any white on hand. The color is different but the flavor was great! Usually I don't change a thing with this recipe. It's tasty the way it is.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Great recipe! The extra preparation is so worth it. I usually add a little garlic powder and worcestershire like others. I always come back to this recipe when I want a yummy beef stew.
