Alma's Sweet Corn

Being from Iowa, I would have to say that the addition of sugar to fresh sweet corn is sacriledge, lol.....as well as unnecessary. Real sweet corn will not need it!! But this is a good idea if you have to use corn from a can; drain about half the liquid, add a couple pats of butter, a tsp. or so (to taste) of sugar and a dash of salt. Simmer while you get the rest of the meal together, serve. Makes canned corn pretty tasty!

Cheddar Pull-Apart Bread

Oh, wow! Is this bread yummy!! I didn't have the onions, so used minced garlic instead, also used twice as much cheese by adding it to the dough as well as the topping. I didn't have the celery seed either....so just omitted that. I made one large loaf in a bundt cake pan, kind of like monkey bread, and one that I rolled out, spread with the topping, then rolled up jelly roll style and baked. Both turned out fantastic and I am having to guard the remainder of the loaf so we will still have some by dinner time!

Hungarian Braided White Bread

First time making a braided bread, and I was pleased with the results. Nice crust with a soft and chewy inside. Like many of the reviewers, I only baked it about 25 minutes....any longer would have ended up inedible in my opinion. I was surprised that this turned out so well, as I had a heck of a time getting my milk/yeast to get that creamy, foamy look.....in fact, it never did! I tossed out two batches of warm milk and yeast before giving up and just using my third batch. Bread rose just fine. I'm new to bread making, so maybe I just need more experience under my belt.

Amish White Bread

I had never made bread before but after trying this recipe, I make bread all the time! Great recipe, easy even for a beginner like me. I sometimes only use 1/3 cup sugar if I don't want the bread as sweet as normal, although it is delicious either way.
