Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2014
Would say 4.5 stars. Nice to find a "different" chicken dish to add to the rotation! I was tempted to add the onion and peppers but decided to try this recipe as-is. It didn't dissapoint. Also the stewed tomatoes I used had onion and celery in them so I think that helped. I was going to make a simple boiled yukon potato with butter and parsley but didn't think it'd go with the chicken after I tried the sauce. So instead I boiled the potatoes then thick-sliced and pan-fried in peanut oil with salt and pepper until nicely browned and crispy. They went along nicely. Thanks for the recipe, it's nice to add another chicken dish to the repertoire! :)

Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
I have never marinated in chicken in egg yolk and loved the result! Next time I'll be sure to let it marinate overnight, only gave it about 2 hours but it was still fantastic. I used one and a half large breasts cut and pounded thin into 6 pieces. My baking dish didn't hold all of the pieces so I sauteed some in oil and butter, they crisped up very nicely.

Greek Feta Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2012
Very good! I added lemon juice and salt and pepper to the marinade and had it in the fridge for 24 hours. The feta was a nice touch! Used as the base for pita sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, onion and greek yogurt cucumber sauce from this site, nice weeknight meal!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Simple and tasty. I sometimes use djion mustard in place of the powder and I also add seasoned salt. Definitely mix up several times throughout cooking to keep the butter mixture evenly distributed. I think this side dish is a good accompaniment to slightly fancier entrees. I wouldn't serve it with hamburgers etc.. but I think it's worked well with honey mustard pork chops, garlic and herb roasted pork loin and chicken marsala.

Shoyu Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
This was delicous, I used 5 lbs chicken drumsticks and thighs and marinated for a day and a half. I cooked on low heat on the grill for longer than the time stated. Will make again I'm sure, but will probably scale the recipe down, as I won't be cooking for a crowd next time!

Naan

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
I have made this twice and each time it has been a breeze with great results! I do on an indoor grill pan (sprayed with pan) and they did get nice bubbles. It's just my husband and I so there are lots in the freezer for future meals. I meant to try a combo of wheat/all purpose flour both times because I really like roti, maybe next time I'll remember!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
I made this last winter to go with Sheperd's Pie. The flavor of this was really nice. I was a little dissapointed that it didn't have a nice crunchy crust and textured, chewy interior. Next time I will let it slowly rise in the fridge for at least a day (my favorite local bread has a 72 hr rising time). I'll also put a bowl of ice cubes in the oven while it's baking. A baking stone might also help?? Great recipe, I just want to keep tweaking.

Beef Samosas

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
Update: I just used the filling again, I tried to use pillsbury pie dough, it wasn't bad (a step up from my dough attempt) but I'm still not satisfied and will keep trying. I had too much filling leftover so I froze and ended up using it with some shredded pot roast on the stove, served with indian butter sauce and naan. It was good, in case anyone needs a leftover idea.

Blueberry Pinwheels

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I made these minus the blueberries (I just wanted to make a standard sweet roll). They turned out really well. My dad polished off a pan of 12 in a day! I had extra butter so I brushed it on top of the rolls before their second rise. The yeast didn't proof for me, so I started again and it still didn't proof like normal but I decided to try anways and they did end up rising (lesson learned: don't waste a 12 oz can of evaporated milk and almost a stick of butter)!

Sausage Flowers

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2012
I call these sausage cups and prebake the wrappers until the tops are browned. Great for a party because you can do all of the work beforehand and throw together once company is over. I also add some chopped onion and bell pepper, I saute it in the same pound as the hot sausage. Real crowd-pleaser!

Half and Halfs

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
This recipe sat in my recipe box for years, I'm glad I finally tried them. I used peanut butter chips for the chocolate dough and it was kind of crumbly when assembling but the end result was great! Nice deviation from my favorite cookie variety. Thanks for the recipe! In Pittsburgh, in addition to having wedding cakes, it's tradtional to have a cookie table with massive amounts of baked goods. This will be my go-to wedding cookie contribution because it's two halfs marrying into one delicious treat!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I don't eat cheesecake but my boyfriend's parents absolutely loved this! I baked it in a water bath and left it in the oven after it baked for an hour. The center wasn't completely set so next time I'll probably add 10 mintues onto the baking time. I added more butter, some sugar (mostly white but a little brown) and a pinch of salt to the crust. Topped with mini chocolate chips and sliced strawberries.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
I don't measure anything for sloppy joes but these are the ingredients I use, plus a splash of worcestershire and a squit of bbq sauce. I typically don't simmer for a full half hour, just until the liquids have reduced. Easy peasy weeknight meal and good way to use up hamburger buns.

Japanese Style Deep Fried Shrimp

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
Delicious. I seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder and then dreged in flour with paprika and cayenne. I added shredded coconut to the panko. These took no time to fry up in my electric skillet, maybe 2 minutes total, as soon as I saw the tails turn pink I took them out. Served with a dipping sauce of pinapple preserves, spicy mustard, honey and horseradish. My boyfriend said they were better than the ones we had at McCormick and Schmict's last week. Fantastic!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
I don't eat these but everyone who has ever tried them loves them. I add lump crab meat and dip each mushroom in melted butter then pour melted butter into the bottom of the baking pan. Also I like to top with either crushed Triscuits or seasoned panko.

Butterfinger Chunkies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
I just use one whole egg and also opt for smooth pb. They are crispy and chewy at the same time and don't flatten too much. Sometimes I use about 2 packages of the 10 packs of the snack size candy bars. A keeper for sure!

Slow Cooker Apple Cider Braised Pork

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2013
Boy was this delicious. I made this with a tenderloin so I baked instead of putting into the crockpot. Cooked the meat with the sauce uncovered 20 min per pound at 375. I used fresh sage. Best pork roast recipe I think I've come across. Perfect for a cool fall night! Served with honey roasted red potatoes and steamed then sauteed green beans.

Stuffed Roast Turkey

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
Wonderful! I used real eggs, not subsitute and used about 4 stalks of celery but followed the rest of the recipe to a T. This made some fantastic traditional stuffing (the best kind is the stuff from the bird). I really jammed it in there and still had lots leftover which I baked in a seperate pan as directed. Temp and time was spot on as well. Didn't quite use the gravy recipe. I was a little nervous making my first turkey for my family but it couldn't have been easier or turned out better. Thanks!

Super Al's Cocktail Sauce

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
Wonderful. I used fresh horseradish root because it was on sale but I think next time I'll just stick with the jarred variety. It had a wonderful flavor but wasn't that spicy.
