My favorite things to cook
New Things and Italian Food! I'm not really a "Hunk of Meat" type of cook. Usually I incorporate meat into something, but I never serve a huge piece of meat with a side dish. I prefer to cook dinners but not desserts, I'll leave that up to my friends.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Listening to some music while I am cooking. On Friday nights, my husband and I make homemade pizza. I hope to create some memorable traditions for my family with food.
My cooking triumphs
Making something out of nothing. Living poor in Chicago, I have learned to make a tasty meal with only a few things left in the fridge.
My cooking tragedies
Baking in general. Yes, even the boxed cake mix. My son's first bithday cake was a disaster. The cake was really goopy in the middle, and the edges were crispy. I had no time to make another one, and no money to go out and buy one. So, for his second bithday I had someone else make it!

Easy Pasta Fagioli
I've had this soup at italian restaurants before, and this recipe taste very similar. I will be making this again!

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie
YAY! I did it! I am very proud of myself, because I normally don't like to bake. When my husband said he liked Lemon Meringue Pie, and that it reminded him of his childhood, I wanted to make it. I think it calls for the lemon zest, because it might add some extra lemony flavor. I used up all of my lemon juice, and the custard didn't taste lemony enough to be lemon meringue pie. So, I added some lemonade I had, and some lime juice to make it more tart. The recipe is great, it's the baker that had some issues.
